Wow, what a great way to start the 2024 season, as 230 bowlers showed up for our Doubles Championship held at Bowlero-Tacoma.   Scoring was extremely close all day, with many ties across the cash list.  We paid out 47 places, one extra cash spot because of a 4 way tie in last cash spot.  We also would like to thank Bowlero Lanes and crew for a smooth running tournament with no breakdowns despite the massive numbers.  Thanks to the 9 Tap bowlers for setting new records, breaking the old time record for doubles at Pacific Lanes where there was 208 entries and a payout of $11,783.00.  Our new record stands at 230 entries and a payout of $12,909.00.  This is the only tournament where you can cash multiple times, and 21 bowlers took advantage of this feature.  Jason Hummell set a new record cashing in 11 times, with Walt Dalrymple cashing in 9 times.  Samson Ibale followed with 6 cashes, Chandra Martinez had 5 cashes, and Earl Kleist and Thang Thai both had 4 cashes each.  

The 9 Tap Jackpot was hit by 4 bowlers with the front 3 taps, but a yet unnamed bowler did hit the front 4 taps, but did not enter in the jackpot.  Jason Hummell had tons of taps all day, but just could not put them together or long enough strings. Here’s a picture of what his day was like, 8 out of 9 taps to finish his game. The 9 Tap Jackpot has grown to a huge $9,869.00.

 

 

Our champions this week were the dynamic duo of Samson Ibale and Walt Dalrymple. This now makes Walt a 7 time winner and Samson his 32nd title. Their combined score of 1089 shows what can happen when both of you get in a groove. Samson started last year in a slump, but has got it together the last few months finishing in the top 5 in the last 6 tournaments.  This is Walt’s first win since 2019, and he is bowling better using his new Storm Virtual Energy Blackout. They both split $2,440.00 for $1220.00 each.  

In second place are new comers joining the tour in October of 23, Kelly Ros and Gavin Chan.  Kelly and Gavin set the pace for the day as they combined for a great 1056 series after the first squad. This is the pairs best finish on the tour and they split $1,230.00 for $615.00 each. 

With a combined score of 1051, Samson Ibale and Ashley Kochel take 3rd place.  Ashley came very close to collecting her 6th title.  Ashley and Samson split $560.00 for $280.00 each.
