Wrap Up

CORRECTION: We discovered some Tournament reports that were missing from our Master File, which included two Hi-Joy events in 2018.  So... we were returning to Hi-Joy Lanes after just 4 years and we had a fantastic RECORD setting crowd of 127 bowlers vying for a very competitive Championship, that saw the lead change hands in EVERY squad!  BIG THANKS to the Hi-Joy Staff for all their efforts promoting the event, which produced SEVENTEEN new Members and SEVEN former Members who returned Saturday!!  Also a Tip-of-the-Hat to all our Members who made the excursion... we heard reactions from many first time visitors who said thing like, "We love this place" or "This is a really nice facility"!  Scoring was just a shade on the high side, a 'Cut-Line' just a tic above ideal for the 25 who Cashed, but a Winning score of 1041 that was Right-on-Target!  We'll be excited to return to Hi-Joy soon, probably for a July or August date.  Happy Mother's day to all of our Mom's!  The Mom's Day Special (Hdcp High Game Pot) was also very competitive and ALL THREE Winners also made the Cash List Saturday.

Jenny Nguyen firing a very sweet 298 game lead the way, earning $175.00 for the Mom's Top Spot, to go with her 987 series good for a 9th place finish and another $160.00, which also went with the $500.00 she collected for her Front-6 Taps last week (I think she's on a Hot Streak)!  Following up in 2nd place was Elin Taska with another great game of 294 earning $85.00 along with her 15th place finish for another $100.00, with Christina Miller firing a nice 287 for $40.00, and a fantastic 1011 series for a 4th on the 'Cash List' worth $240.00.  Leading the tournament after the first squad, Zac Clute shot a strong 1001, topped by Joe Fincher's 1039 in the 2nd squad, which looked like a tough score to beat, until it was edged by TWO PINS in the last squad.  The 9-Tap Jackpot stood at $2,044.00 and after being hit big the last two weeks, it got off easy this week.  Justin Miller hit the Front-4 Taps, collecting a nice chunk of cash worth $100.00 this week.  The Jackpot made a nice jump growing to $2,427.00 for next week.

We had another First-Time Champion finally breaking through after many near misses!  Will Twyman has been in a kinda of slump as evidenced by his FOUR Bonus Pins.  Will has recently shared a similar challenge that many of us relate too... that one bad game that keeps getting in the way.  Will was definitely ON FIRE this week, firing a 957 968 in the first 2 squads, with that ONE GAME getting in the way of having the lead.  Then Will re-entered the final squad, because he, "Wants that Championship Shirt more than the money"!  Using his Storm Phase III, drilled by Robert Kelly at Secoma LanesWill stayed hot and broke through that ceiling, firing a sweet 1041 series, to eek out the TWO PIN Win.  Will would like to thank his good buddy Adam Hamlet and his Mom, along with John Moore Jr and John Moore III for cheering him on.  Will says his winnings of $1,830.00 will come in handy for some new furniture, the Champion Shirt... PRICELESS!!

Hi Joy Champion "Will Twyman"

Finishing in 2nd Place and the leader after the 2nd squad, Joe Fincher tossed a very nice 1039 series, just those slim two pins shy of his 4th title.  Only his first game  209 held him back from taking the Title.  Joe takes home a nice check of $832.00 to soothe the frustration from such a close finish.

Third place goes to HOF'er and two-time Bowler of Year, James Black.  Firing a solid 1015 series, kept him just short of his 7th title.  James takes home $432.00 for his strong effort, to go with the additional $200.00 he Won from the Scratch Pot.
