Kent Bowl

Total Paid Out: $7,284.00

Wrap Up

The Tour's return to Kent Bowl provided a lot of action this weekend.  We had a nice turnout of 126 bowlers in our initial 3 squad schedule of the season.  There were numerous games shot over 250 all day long, but only a few put together multiple big games.  Scoring this weekend was right in the sweet spot again, with just THREE 1000 series shot and a low to Cash of 906, scores couldn't have been any more right-on-target.  It was almost De ja vu from last week with a 1050 series shot in the first squad and all bowlers chasing for the top spot, including one series coming within ONE PIN.  The 9-Tap Jackpot survived several runs at the Middle 7 in-a-row, but all fell short with only 6 of 7, while one even had 7 of 8 Taps only being foiled with a real strike in that string.  Starting with the Front 4, Roland Jarata was high for the day and took home a sweet $100.00 cash prize for his effort.

Our Champion this week is one of our newer Members. Jimmy Tang joined the Tour last April.  After struggling with just one CashJimmy persevered, putting it ALL together this week, firing an awesome 1050 in the first squad.  He was able to avoid any big mistakes, actually getting hotter game after game.  He said that making his spares was his problem in the past tournaments, and that was his biggest improvement.  Using his AMF Incinerate, drilled by Pat Johns, he was able to hang around the pocket and avoided any nasty splits.  He would like to thank Skip Shear for giving him some advise on making his spares and Phil Pasqua for introducing him to the 9-Tap Tour.  This is Jimmy's career best day all around, setting his best series by 63 pins & high game by 21 pins.  Looks like everything came together today for Jimmy, and shows that anyone can have a career day at anytime.  Obviously, with ZERO dollars in the Progressive PotJimmy didn't enter the Tourney expecting a Top Finish, much less taking the Title.  He still takes home his all time best payday of $1,000.00.  Jimmy plans on saving some of the winnings for an upcoming family wedding in Hawaii.

Finishing in 2nd Place, just ONE PIN SHORT of 1st is Chim Saechao.  Already a THREE time ChampionChim fired an awesome 1049 series, with 4 very consistent games.  Chim was in kind of a drought since his 3rd Place finish back in April, and was only a tiny break away from earning his 4th title.  With his second place finish, Chim picks-up a very nice check of $743.00, pushing his Career Earnings to almost $14K, now an impressive $13,997.00

Rounding out the Top 3, and another newer member joining in August, is Aaron Thompson.  Shooting in just his second Tour TournamentAaron fired off a very nice 1029 series.  Aaron's two games in the 180's kept him from winning the whole thing, since he finished just 21 pins shy of the top spot.  His first Cash to date brings him a healthy $378.00.  Watch out in the future for Aaron.

SPECIAL NOTE: For KENMORE LANES next week, the Tour is bringing back the popular 'INSTANT $10'!!  Just start any game with the Front TWO Taps and get an 'Instant $10.00'!!  With the 9-Tap Jackpot at $7,783.00, you can win $10.00 in every game starting AND still qualify for the Consolation Bonuses.
