Kent Bowl - Kent, WA
May 9th, 2015

Total Paid Out: $10,398.00

Wrap Up

Saturday's action at Kent Bowl certainly lived up to all the hype... and then some!  Adding to Kent Bowl's history of big payouts from the 9-Tap Jackpotand for the 2nd Mom's Day in-a-row, the Pot got hammered.  Andy Snow (see video) in the 1st squad and Rollie Abella (sorry no video) in the 4th squad, each took advantage of the increased payouts, when they managed to string 7-Middle Taps good for a hefty $750.00 each.  Then there were the enormous scores that we started seeing with the very first games of the day.  Same oil pattern... same oil... same oil machine... but the hottest day yet this year, resulted in the highest scores seen this year.  That theory was re-enforced later in the day, when we were expecting the big scores to continue, but after the air conditioning was turned on, the scores came down along with the temperature.  A very unusual day!!  A nice turnout resulted in a Cash List of 28 Members and a huge$10,398.00 total payout.  Pearl Sedeno became the first lady to take Top Honors in the Mom's Pot two years in-a-row.  Pearl earned $175.00 for her 296 (w/hdcp), while Serina Reese's 288 paid $85.00 and Kathy Johnson got $40.00 for her 284.

Rollie Abella & Andy Snow both convert on their shots for $750.00.

The level of enthusiasm and excitement was overwhelming, when we crowned our 10th 'First-Time

Champion' this year.  Hien Nguyen joined the Tour in February and failed to make the Cash List on his first TEN entries, what a GREAT way to earn your first Check... with a Title.  Hein had some big games in those first ten tries, but struggled to put 3 or 4 big ones together in one series.  The 11th try was the charm!  Hien put 4 nice games together and like a true Champ, his biggest (287) was his final game.  He just took up bowling about a year ago.  By studying videos, along with some instruction, he's already raised his League average to a respectable 180's level.   Again, a Storm'Crux'was the tool of yet another Champ and this time it was Ed Dolfay at Skyway Park who did the drilling.  To say that Hien was excited would be an understatement and after the results were posted, he got his wife on the phone (currently visiting Vietnam) and the enthusiasm was clearly coming from both ends of the phone connection.  He'd like to use his big $2,074.00 payday toward an investment in a boat.  CONGRATS Hien on Win #1!!

Pearl Sedeno was just released (last week), from a two week hospital stay.  Being the defending Mom's Pot Champ, she wasn't going to miss this Tournament.  The surprise was when she shot a huge 1st squad leading 1097, beating her Personal Best (Puget Sound Region) by a hefty 58 pins.  Pearl's the only Member with Titles in both the Hawaii Region and here.  This 2nd Place paid a very nice $930.00, to go with her Mom's Pot earnings.  In 3rd Place, Andy Snow also 'Doubled-Up' supplementing his $750.00 from the Jackpot, with a extra $505.00 in Prize Money, for his excellent 1067 series.  Personal Bests by Pat Riley & Vu Nguyen were only enough to make 4th & 5th on this high scoring day.
