Daffodil Bowl - Puyallup, WA
October 25th, 2014
Total Paid Out: $6,720.00
While a High Wind Weather Advisory threatened Western Washington late in the day, the lights flickered a few times but the power stayed on atDaffodil Bowl as much of the 'electricity' was displayed on the lanes by several Bowlers that found themselves 'in the groove'. With a nice turnout of 110 Entries and scoring slightly higher than normal, 22 Bowlers made the Cut-Line which wound up at 949 for the day.
Kicking things off for the day, there was a nice turnout for Matt Surina'sBowling Clinic. As a special bonus to those participating in the clinic, Matt is providing a New Ball to the Top first entry score from that group. Ultimately, Kai Pedro emerged from the pack, earning the ball by posting a Top Score of 966.
By hitting the front 4 taps, Mike Kravitz & Stu Gallagher shared the 9-Tap Jackpot consolation for the day, earning $50.00 each. Mick Hodge& Barb Rosengren both flirted with 7 straight Taps as Mick started his game with a tap, a real strike in the 2nd frame, then 5 straight. Meanwhile, Barb went 6 for 7 on taps to finish her final game but had a real strike in the 11th frame. With that, the Jackpot continues to be on the rise and sits at $5,568.00 as the Tour begins the Three SquadWinter Schedule at Skyway Park Bowl next week .
Three Longtime Tour members emerged from the pack on Saturday to go 1-2-3 on the Cash List. Finishing 3rd on the day was Chandra Martinez. Chandra, who joined the Tour in 2003, has bowled off & on since then and managed to shatter all of her career best scores by posting an impressive 1035 on her way to earn $423.00 for the day. Finishing 2nd this week was Rody Sumandig, who was trying for his 2nd career title since joining the Tour back in 2005. Rody fired a 1039, earning $824.00 for the day. Many of our Members may recall that Rody had won $750.00 from the Jackpot back in 2012.
Emerging to claim his SIXTEENTH Career Title this week is none other than original Tour Member (#11) Samson Ibale!!! After going through what could be referred to as a slump, Samson has recently accumulated 4 Bonus pins for the first time in his 12-Year Tour Career. As it turned out, the bonus pins weren't really a factor as Ibale was on fire enough to win without them on Saturday as he shot a very impressive 1065. With the 16th Title and $1,810.00 in winnings, this pushes the Tour's all-time Top Title Winner and Money Earner to $49,260.00. This amount includes only Prize & Progressive Pot money and NOT the thousands that he has earned in Side pots and Jackpots. Samson wanted to thank those cheering him on this week and especially his wife, Edessa along with friends and Tour Members Gomer Braganza, James Black & Matias Oriza. With his winnings, Ibale says that he is saving it all for future 9-Tap Tournaments. Congratulations, Samson!
