Ft. Shafter

Oct. 20th, 2018

Total Paid Out: $6,765.00

Wrap Up

Ft. Shafter Lanes

There were 91 entries that paid 18 placeshandicaps were spread out from -10 to 56; paid out $6,765.00; and Champion wins $1,609.00 for 1st Place at Ft. Shafter.  Our tournament Champion is Kevin Fukuda.  Kevin joins his brother Terrence as a 9 Tap Tour Champion.   Kevin is one part of the Fukuda Family that bowls on the 9 Tap Tour, alongside brother Terrence and Dad Lloyd.  Of particular note, Kevin became the 14th first time winner on this seasons 2018 Tour.  After a 3 week hiatus,  “We simply had a great tournament and fun time”.

The Tour format was the member favorite "Best 3 of 4" and as the day began, it looked as if the scores were going to be close and at the end of the first squad, 4 time Champion Vergilio Repollo set the bar high enough where he dared other members to catch him.  Posting a nice score of 811, he became thefirst squad leader.  The second squad produced some good scores but the leader board remained the same with the addition of 3 time Champion Kenny Reynolds hot on his heels with a score of 807, 4 pins short of a tie with Vergilio.  Second squad leader same as the first.  The third squad turned out  to be a large squad with 32 entries and members taking shots at the leader.  The score of 811 was beatable and just waiting for someone to step up to the plate.

Kevin Fukuda had no aspirations of winning the 9 Tap Tour tournament but on his way to his first title, Kevin was shooting for a bigger win.  In his third game, Kevin was shooting for the "BIG 9 TAP JACKPOT  HIT", 7 in a row for $4,356.00. As it turned out , Kevin had to settle for 6 in-row and a consolation bonus of $400 however he had already posted a nice first game of 282, another super game of 292 and a chance to win it all.  Kevin then left no doubt  who was going to win the Ft. Shafter tournament as he fires a great game of 280 for his first title. Kevin used a Storm Pitch Black bowling ball drilled by Cody Saguibo of Striking Dynamix Pro Shop.  He thanks his mom, dad and brother for their support, friend Jacob Fukuyama for the Pitch Black and to the 9 Tap Tour Staff for putting on these events.  Congratulations  Kevin!

Progressive and 9 Tap Jackpots

Our 9 Tap Jackpot took a hit by Kevin Fukuda's 6 no taps but still at a high of$5,364.00 and  our Progre$$ive Potstands at a "Huge" $1,474.00.   Bring a friend or family member and sign them up to bowl on your tour.
