Ft. Shafter Bowl

Dec. 1st, 2018

Total Paid Out: $5,892.00

Wrap Up

Quarterly Tournament!!!

The 4th Quarter tournament "Best 3 out of 4" at Ft. Shafter Lanes did not disappoint us as scoring was right where we like it, giving everyone a shot at winning!  We had 83 entries, 17 cashers; a low 738 to cash; paid out $5,892; $1,550.00 to 1st Place and crowned another 1st time Champion

Glen Teramoto started our 4th Quarter tournament with a nice score of 774 edging out Marcus Jackson by one pin and on top of the leader board for squad one.

Amber Kaowili entered the second squad and made it known that she was here to get a piece of the pie by over taking Glen and squad two lead with a nice 778 score.  June Champion Audrey Sue put herself in the mix, firing a score of 776, two pins back.

Darrell Agao entered the tournament in the final squad, started slow then finished in a flurry for a 783 score.  Claudia Ferrari reentered the third squad on the advice of her bowling coach and nearly won the tournament if not for some ill timed splits.  She finished at 784 a pin higher than Darrell for third place.  Paul Braga was on FIRE as he lit up the scoreboard shooting a 3 game series of 793 beating Claudia by 9 pins and a chance to go higher but a missed frame and a split prevented him from taking over the top spot and first title.

That set the stage for Archie Trajano, who joined the tour back in January of 2018 and had a best finish at 12th place.  Bowling in the third and final squad of the day, Archie came out firing on all cylinders under tough conditions, put together 3 great scores, finishing at 815 then had to wait for Paul Braga to finish to earn the 4th Quarter Championship and his 1st title .  Archie used a Storm Alpha Crux bowling ball drilled at WLE & Pro Shop by Keith Odette.  Asked what he planned to do with his winnings, he said "pay the bills and use some of it for the Big Kahuna Team Challenge in Las Vegas".  Archie thanks Ryan Motohiro for passing down his Alpha Crux and to all of his friends who supported him. Congratulations, Archie on your first title.

Progressive & 9 Tap Jackpot

Our 9 Tap Jackpot has increased to $5,482.00 and the Progressive Pot to$1,530.00.  The pots are still large and waiting for one of our members to take home the “Bigger Bucks”.  At the Ft. Shafter Tournament,  the 9 tap jackpot was hit for $225.00 by Audrey Sue, who threw 5 no taps.

YEC (Year End Championship)  2018 Next.

Our next stop will be at Schofield Bowling Center, December 15, 2018 for the YEC (Year End Championship).   There will be ONLY one (1) squad, starting at 11:00 a.m.  Both Pots will not be in play during the YEC (Year End Championship) tournament.  It is a prepaid event, please reserve your spot with payment by December 12th.

BOY (Bowler of the Year) 2018

The BOY (Bowler of the Year) ended with a runaway as Brandon Benictaout distanced himself from the rest of the field by winning 3 titles.  Randy Kaea-Cook outlasted Kelly Magsanay by a point to take 2nd Place.  Randy and Kelly were followed by Terrence Fukuda, who had a shot at bypassing Randy and Kelly, finished outside of the cash list and settled for 4th place.  Neither Ryan Kumai or Richard Nagamatsu (tied in 5th Place) nor Vergilio Repollo (8th) and Grace Toguchi (9th) did not make the cash list to move up the BOY Award list.  Kevin Asato cashed but could not get any higher than 7th Place.  As it turned out the only movement was Craig Bolling replacing Glen Lim for the 10th spot by two pins.  Craig cashed in 15th place to give him just enough pins to beat out Glen.  Brandon Benicta was on cruise control as his 185 points were 89 points ahead of Randy and 90 over Kelly.  Brandon claims the "Bowler of the Year" Title for 2018.  Congratulations!  Brandon.
