Ft. Shafter

Jan. 13th, 2018

Total Paid Out: $6,035.00

Wrap Up

The 9 Tap Tour began the New Year with a "HUGE SCARE" from the Hawaii Civil Defense that had everyone in Paradise in "PANIC"!  But as it turned out, it was Ft. Shafter Lanes that got "Drilled".

Despite the broadcast error, the tournament went off fine and using our members favorite, "Best 3 out of 4" format, it proved  successful as it drew 83 entries; paid out $6,035.00; 17 cashers in a wide range of handicaps (-7 to 69);  and a New Champion.  Brandon Panee has been a member of the 9 Tap Tour since September of 2012 and although he has been cashing, he has not come close to winning it all.  Brandon had to overcome the adversity of his game and once doing so, his average, handicap and scores have gotten "Good, Real Good".  The changes he made in his equipment gave him a better chance of competing at a higher level.

In the First Squad, It took concentration and focus to score well andBrandon did that by posting back to back 270+ scores, a 278 and 277 in games one and two.  He then changed lanes and continued his onslaught  with an awesome third game of 237.  Game four was riddled with a few splits and Brandon could only muster up with a 216 final game in which he tossed out.   That gave him a score of 849, the first squad lead that no one got close to beat.  Brandon wins his first title along with $1,470.00.  Congratulations Brandon on a great start of the New Year!

In second place was Tonja Jenkins posting the only other 800 score, an 811.  Daniel Toyooka-Lim took 3rd Place, beating out Kevin Asato by 1 pin, a 786.  Kevin took 4th place with a 785 score.    Brandon thanks Mike Shimotsu for drilling his Storm Pitch Black that he used to win his first title and the 9 Tap Tour Staff for putting on the tournament.

The Tour makes its next showing at Hickam Bowling Center on January 20.  Our Progre$$ive Pot got a little larger and stands at $1,391.00.  Our 9 Tap Jackpot has risen to $2,801.00. The no tap consolation bonus was split between Dennis Matthews, Sean Yamamoto and Catherine Crucewith 4 No Taps, winning $25.00 each.
