Schofield Bowl - Oct. 7th, 2017

Total Paid Out: $6,187.00

Wrap Up

Another New Champion

The 9 Tap Tour celebrated another “AWESOME” fun filled tournament at Schofield.  Despite a number of our members leaving our fair islands for the "Ninth Island (Las Vegas)", this past weekend’s tournament attracted 80 entries; with 16 cashers; paying out $6,187.00 and produced another 1st time champion.  It was a tough condition as the scores indicated, low to cash was 878; handicaps ranged from a -6 to 63; and the winning score at 1017.  The lane conditions were the same pattern set for all our Schofield tournaments, which gives every bowler a chance at winning a title.

Brian Pineda wins his First Title

Brian Pineda has been a member of the 9 Tap Tour since September 2012 and his bestfinish on tour was 3rd place.  His fame to glory on tour happened on December 15, 2012, when on that day Brian found himself in unfamiliar territory as he had just thrown "6 no taps" from frame 1.  The 9 Tap Jackpot was at $7,520.00, a 7th no tap would have been a win of $6,016.00 however it was not to be as his comment to me, Kawika, was "Uncle to tell the truth, my knees was shaking and it was not anything like shooting your first 300 game".  Well, Brian did not get the 7th no tap, bruddah didn't get close to the head pin however he did pick up $500 for the 6 no tap consolation bonus.

Deciding whether to bowl or not, Brian decides to just bowl one squad at 5:00 pm.  The day did start rather slowly as the 1st squad ended with Vergilio Repollo leading with an 880 score.  Scoring did increase as Vergilio and Ricardo Ebia both shot 978 and a tie for the lead after the 2nd squad.  The 3rd squad starts off with some big scores; eventual Champion Brian Pineda starts off the squad with the front eight natural strikes and a 287 game; Tyler Liverman had the front 7 strikes and a 278 game; Daniel Toyooka-Lim goes back to back no tap 300s but his first and last games were low and kept him out of the front 4 places.  Brian's score of 1017 was the best score of the day and earned him his first title.    Brian used a Storm Timeless bowling ball for his win, drilled by Keith Odette of WLE.  Brian thanks the 9 Tap Tour Staff for putting on these tournaments for the bowlers.  Congratulations Brian on your First Title!

Progressive and 9 Tap Jackpots

Our Progressive Pot has decreased and the 9 Tap Jackpot has increased which should give a sizeable payout to the next tournament winner, as the Tour heads to Hickam Bowling Center for a member's favorite, Best 3 out of 4.  The Progressive Pot stands at$1,388.00 and our 9 Tap Jackpot is at $2,165.00.  See all of you there!!

The Year End Championship (YEC) is quickly approaching and with only 4 more tournaments to go, if you want to get invited, members need 6 tournaments to qualify.  The YEC is slated for December 16, 2017 at Schofield Bowling Center. If you have any questions, please feel free to give me or Frances a call at808 779-6566.
