Schofield Bowl - June 18th, 2016

Total Paid Out: $4,180.00

Wrap Up

The 2nd Quarter tournament at Schofield did not disappoint us as scoring was great!  We had 58 entries, 12 cashers ranging from a handicap of 2 to 70; a low 717 to cash; and a 1st time Champion; we added a little "twist" to the format from our usual "Beat the Board" to the "Best 3 out of 4", and it made scoring exciting all day.

Scoring got started with 79 years young, past Champion Lopaka Chun, as he put together a nice 774 series and the first squad leader.  Following close by wasErran Joseph and Naomi Rose.  Chloe Pojas, back from college for the summer, took over and led the 2nd squad, posting a great score of 785.  The third squad started with Champion Keanu Deboma, getting off the blocks (lanes) quickly  posting the days 1st 800 score, an 801 with a fourth game left to bowl.  Close by was second squad leader, Chloe Pojas, bowling steady and consistent but could not generate a big score to catch Keanu and finished in third place and a nice check of $241.00.Lurking nearby was William Reyes, also bowling consistently and needing to post a Big Game to have a shot at winning his first title.  William joined the 9 Tap Tour back in April of 2015 at Ft. Shafter but work kept him away from the tour until I met him in Las Vegas bowling the Vegas 9 Tap Tour back in February of this year.  On his return home, William has bowled in every tour tournament.  William bowled in the first squad and was disappointed with his scoring, re-entered the second squad but again tough conditions, tough scoring.  After a friendly talk with another tour member, William re-entered the third squad, changed his equipment and history was made.  William started casually, posting a fair 219 (+28 pins and 2 bonus) for a 249 score.  Followed by a 209 (throw away) second game, moved lanes and posted a nice 234 (+28/2) for a 264.  Still needing to post a big game, William started slow but struck out off the sheet to finish his "BIG Game" of 259 (+28/2) for a 289, an 802 series and beats Keanu by a single pin.  Congratulations William!  William used a Roto Grip Menace drilled by Roy Yamanuha at Game On Pro Shop, Ft. Shafter Lanes.

Our 9 Tap Jackpot has increased to $3,529.00 and the Progressive Pot to $918.00.  The pots are still large and waiting for one of our members to take home the “Bigger Bucks”.  Our next stop will be at Ft. Shafter Lanes on July 9, 2015 with no changes in squad times, 12:00 pm2:30 pm; and 5:00 pm.
