Wrap Up

Pali Highway Traffic

Despite the traffic jam into Kailua and Pali Lanes, our 9 Tap Tour was very successful.  Traffic was backed up for at least a couple of miles on both the Pali and Kamehameha highways on a Saturday mind you, no accident, just the State messing around with us Locals.  The “Horrendous traffic”, kept our tournament from being on time because we had members asking if we could wait a few minutes for them to make a squad.  For Bob Kailewa it turned out as a “God Send”.  Bob was late for the 2:30 squad and just missed getting on the lanes, so he waited for the 5:00 squad, the rest is history.

First time winner

This past week was just great in every way, as we had 79 entries, 16 cashers and a 1st time Champion; scores in our Best 3 out of 4 was just the way we like them with only 5 - 800’s and a score of 767 as low to cash, “Just Great!”  Scoring was tight all day as the first squad saw Ricky Laguana, new member Kyle Farmer and Ron Loo post good scores of 810, 809, and 799 respectively.  Robert Brown, in the 2:30 pm squad, barely took the lead with a big scratch game of 300 and a score of 816.  Back in October of 2012, Bob Kailewa posted a great score in our “Beat the Board” format, only to finish in second place.  This time Bobby came out smokin’ with a two game total of 572, changed lanes, shot his throw away game of 179 and a keep game of 251 to wrestle the lead away from Robert by 7 pins, an 823 score and become Pali Lanes new champion.  Nice going Bobby! Congratulations!  Bob would like to thank Ron Loo for all his support and equipment, wife Lani and Cora Naki-Souza as well.  Asked what his was going to do with his winnings, he said “go to Disneyland”.  Huh?

With this past weekend’s turnout, our 9 Tap Jackpot increased to $7, 594.00 and the Progressive Pot to $1,335.00.  The pots are still large and waiting for one of our members to take home the “Big Bucks”.  Our next stop will be at Ft. Shafter bowl on February 23, 2013 with no change in squad times, 12:00 pm; 2:30 pm; and 5:00 pm.
