Tournament Wrap Up

The 9 Tap Jackpot got a “little exciting” Saturday at Hickam Bowling Center as Greg Holzwarth strung 7 no taps in a row, “anywhere”, “E kala mai Greg, No Money just a hand shake and a hug”.  Brandon Hee had 4 no taps in the first squad only to be out done in the second squad by Sean Burns with 5 no taps and the consolation bonus of $250.  The third squad produced two more 4 no tap strings but a natural strike in the 5th frame kept them from joining Sean. Dennis Matthews also had 7 in a row anywhere but “Sorry Dennis”, Oh!  Braddah got gypped, “no hand shake, no hugs, just too bad, so sad and a pat on the shoulder”.

Aloha Greg Holzwarth

The Tour bids farewell to another member of our military ohana, Greg Holzwarth, as he makes his way back to the mainland.  Greg was a staunch supporter of the 9 tap tour and a “Past Champion”, winning his title at Hickam Bowling Center.

Hickam Gate Issues & High Scores

Despite all the issues we had at the gate of Hickam AFB trying to get members in and to the bowling center, our tournament went on without too much of a hitch and 73 entries.  My hat goes off to Art for spending most of his day at the front gate handing out passes to our members.  Awright, Arthur!  If you weren’t at Hickam, you missed out as the scoring went“BALLISTIC”.  Yes, “scores went skyrocketing”  in all squads.  Leading the way and winning his third title was Lonnie Neves.  Lonnie started the day off posting a score total of 1165, then waited to see if his score would hold.  Second Squad:  Jody Loo goes 875 first three needing a 291 game, shoots 281 and 1156 total.  Lonnie escapes threat number one.  Third Squad:    Solomon Chung Jr. starts off with a 300 game and an 853 three game series, needing to post another 300 game, comes up short with a 290 and a final 1143 total.  Candis Kiyotsuka posts an astonishing 942 for three games, needing to post a score of 224, throws a 6-10-7 split in the 10th frame, shoots 219 and loses by 4 pins.  Lonnie survives the threats by Candis, Jody and Solomon.  Lonnie used a Storm Modern Marvel drilled by Dan Maglangit at Strike’em Pro Shop for his win.  He is saving his winnings for a trip Las Vegas.  Congratulations, Lonnie on win #3 and Good Luck in Vegas.
