Tournament Wrap Up
Hickam Doubles The 9 Tap Tours “First Doubles Tournament” at Hickam Bowling Center was greeted with some skepticism by the Hawaii’s Staff but then turned into a Gigantic Success!!! Our Tour has been blessed with such great and loyal members that this years start has been nothing short of “AWESOME’, mahalo plenty. The payouts have also been huge at all of this year’s events. Hickam’s tournament was no different as we set records of Entries (100) and Total Payout ($5,839.00). The 100 Doubles teams produced a diverse Cash List of 20 teams, with 30 different individual Members Cashing. Many bowlers took advantage of the 'Multiple Cash' opportunity, with EIGHT of those 30 Cashing at least twice and TWO of them hitting the Cash List 3-times each (Lani Hanato-Figueredo & Robert Dougherty), by making their big scores count with more than one partner. New Champions Our new Champions couldn’t decide whether they would watch from the sidelines or bowl. So before the third squad started, Stacey Shigekane and Ray Allen decided to partner up and history was made as our second round leaders Ben Ballesteros and Virgil Dela Cruz were derailed. After a great first game, Stacey says jokingly, “I got a little weary because my shoulders were getting heavy from carrying Raymond.” Ray, the “Gentleman” says humbly, “Stacey held me up the first game and in the second we both shot well enough to wrestle the lead away from Ben and Virgil.” Both, Stacey and Ray “thank the 9 Tap Tour Crew for having these tournaments, as it was great fun for us as well as the other members.” Stacey gets her equipment drilled by Strike’em Pro Shop and boyfriend, Darin Villegas. Ray, on the other hand, drills his own equipment. Beat the Board at Schofield The Tour heads for Schofield Bowling Center for the next tournament, March 17, and reverts back to the standard format, Beat the Board. The Tour signed up SIX new members and hope to sign up more at Schofield. The Progressive Pot is at its highest, $1,818.00 and our 9 Tap Jackpot is steadily increasing, $5,668.00, although being hit with 4 No Taps by Glen Lim and Ben Ballesteros each earning $50 apiece. |
