Tournament Wrap Up

Excitement At Schofield

The “Average Bowlers” dominated this weekend’s tournament, as the Hawaii Region recorded a New Record Turnout.   The BIG turnout caused another Record to fall as the Tour paid out$5,002.00, to record the biggest payout to date.  For the month of January the Tour has recorded huge turnout numbers and big payouts.  Thanks to our current and new members who participated at Ft. Shafter, especially our new member, Ian Cortez, who traveled from Kealakekua.  Surprisingly, there was only one bowler who made a run at our 9 Tap Jackpot, Bob Kailewawho had the front 4-Taps and took home $75.00.  The scores were bunched tightly, with the high score a lower than usual and the Cut-Line lower than normal.  There was some added “Fun” this past tourney, as HBS (Hawaii Bowling Supply) issued a challenge of a $100 for anyone that bowled a 300 game.  In the last game of the third squad, Camryn Bonifacio had the front 11 strikes but left a 5-9 on his final ball and ended with a 298, oh so close, great effort Camryn.

Mike Signaigo Wins 1st Title

Tour sponsor, Mike Signaigo of HBS, bowled in the 1st squad, put together four strong games and then watched as his 995 series hang on through the afternoon, while challenger after challenger came up short.  Mike wasn’t so happy about his game and thought surely that 995 wouldn’t hold up, so he left after the second squad.  After getting a call from Kawika, he couldn’t believe it.  He was so stoked about his win that he had a grin from ear to ear.  Congratulations Mike on Win #1!  Mike comments,“the 9 Tap Tour is ran very Professionally by Art, Kawika and their Staff, it was a Pleasure to participate”.  Thanks, Mike, for the vote of confidence.  He used a Roto Grip “Defiant”, drilled by Jody Yamamoto, for his win.  Asked if there were any special plans for the $1454.00 won, he replied, “pay for bowling”.  Mike is the CEO and Owner of Valve Service and Supply and Hawaii Bowling Supply.  A happy Solomon Chung Jr. shot 969 for 2nd Place and again “the bridesmaid”.  Solomon takes home a nice$660.00.  In 3rd Place was new member, Dave Pickering with a score of 957 and a nice sum of $263.00.
