Another successful 9 Tap tournament concluded at Ft. Shafter Lanes this past weekend crowning a new Champion. The scoring was tight all day as the Title went down to the wire.  We saw one BIG game Saturday by Kevin Asato but to no avail as Kevin was nosed out in the last squad, the last game, in the last frame. The Tour’s newest Champion, Solomon Chung Jr., had to go the distance, to the last frame, of the last game in the last squad.  Kevin Asato set the tone for the last squad with a high 4-game total of 997.  As the last squad got underway, there were a few good games bowled but only a couple of members that could maintain some kind of consistency to give them a chance at winning the title going into the last game.  As it turned out, Jason Fujimoto needed a string of strikes to finish ahead of Kevin but could only muster a tie with Curtis Iha, at 946 and 4th place.  Our eventual Champion, Solomon needed to strikeout from the 8th frame to beat Curtis and did so to win his first Title.  Solomon thanks his wife Shayna for her continued support and through the hardships;  his family and friends;  Wes, Rowe and Virgil at Exxxtreme 300 for his equipment and drilling;  least but not last, the 9 Tap Staff for cheering for him all the time.  Solomon’s biggest “Nemesis” has been lifted and shoulders feel light, “Congratulations”.
