Tournament Wrap Up

Another beautiful and warm summer day we had this past Saturday.  Oh!  Forgot, we live in Hawaii where it’s beautiful and warm all year round (hope Brian, Chris, Mark and other members that have left our fair islands are reading this, wish you were here?)  We had an excellent and fair range of scores this past weekend, just as it's been so many times this year, with each skill level of bowler, well represented.  We paid-out $100 from the 9-Tap Jackpot this week, which seems like nothing compared to what can be won if someone hits the “BIG JACKPOT”Paul Sur and Catherine Cruce each happily collected $50 for their 4-Taps.  The challenging lane conditions made for some tight competition all day.  Saturday's early leader had a score of 935, until the second squad produced the first of three 1000 scores for the day.  The $3,293.00 Paid-Out this week, pushed the 2011 Total to an awesome $49,401.00.

Joining the Winners Circle for the first time is Tour veteran Emory Carrick.  He got in a nice groove in his last three games with his Global 900 Missing Link, shooting a 1025 and nosing out our second squad leader, Glenn Egdamin by 2-pins.  Emory joined the Tour last year with the urging of Aunty Cora Naki-Souza, who is one of our regulars  and the coaching of Chris Laboy of V’s Pro Shop and “Da Boyz” at Ft. Shafter.
He has been bowling for two years and thanks his wife, kids and Aunty Cora for all the support and encouragement.  He also enjoys teaching his children in activities that they participate in.CONGRATULATIONS Emory on #1!  Our second squad leader Glenn Egdamin took 2nd Place.  Glenn, our Inaugural Champion, gave it a great effort despite being under the weather and finished with a solid 1023, worth a nice $457.00.  Victor Lagpacan placed third and collected $228.00.  In all we paid out 11 places with the cut score at 940.

The tour takes a short one week break and returns on August 6th for the “Best 3 of 4” tournament at Hickam Bowling Center.  For those of you members who need a pass to get onto Hickam, please give me or Art Maglangit a call so that we can get your name and/or Ohana on the Access List.  We are at 246 members strong and would be great to sign up more.
