Tournament Wrap Up

 Veteran wins his first Title

Another successful 9 Tap tournament was held at Pali Lanes this past weekend.  The Best 3 out of 4 format was a nice change for our members and the 9Tap Staff is looking at other formats to give our Tour some different looks.  Our Tour did have a few new bowlers join the tour with some bowling in a tournament format for the very first time.  Our new Champion, Chris Takamatsu, is a veteran at tournament play however, it was his first time at a handicapped 9 pin no tap tournament.  In his words “It was enjoyable and challenging at the same time”.  Chris set the bar early and waited till the second and third squads were completed to see his score of 847 prevail.  Dennis Matthews (829) and Daniel Perreira (826) made valiant attempts, but the 847 score was just out of reach.  With his winnings, Chris says, he “will give it to his wife”!  Chris drilled his own bowling ball, using a Brunswick Avalanche Pearl for his win. Alric Kutara made a concerted attempt at hitting the 9 Tap Jackpot but fell short as the 5th frame natural strike gave him just 4 no taps and a $50 consolation prize.  That takes the 9 Tap Jackpot to $4642.

900 Global Bowler of the Year

The Tour heads for Schofield Bowling Center with the format as “Beat the Board”.  Our 900 Global Bowler of the Year (BOY) is coming to an end with several members in the hunt.  Darrell Salondaka is our current leader but with 3 tournaments left, the title is anyone’s to win.  This prestigious title comes with a 900 Global High Performance bowling ball and a BOY Champion Shirt.  Check out our website, it will give you an idea of what you need to do in the following tournaments.  Just for information, points for the BOY is totaled each tournament by accumulating bonus points for a win or wins during the current year; placement points after each tournament; and participation points.  There are additional bonus points for the Top Qualifier of a two day event.
