Wrap Up
After our two-week break, we had a great turn-out this weekend, back where it all started in 2002, at Bowlero-Paradise.  With so many different competing bowling tournaments and sports events this week, we still had an outstanding turnout of 195 entries with a $13K total payout.  The Cut-Line of just 683 meant the lanes were fierce but still provided a competitive edge that had everyone fighting for the top spots throughout the day.  Tour Sponsor Rain City Pro Shop (Karl and Tyler) generously provided shammies to the 'Top Score' from each squad.  Ironically, the 1st Squad Top Scorer was Leticia Salazar (Karl's partner), who also ended up finishing in 6th place. She instead gave the shammie to the next highest scorer Steven Nolan.  The 2nd Squad top scorer was Michael Miller and the 3rd Squad shammie recipient was Josh Brown. 
 

The 9-Tap Jackpot continues to show its durability. Kris Koepke was close to cracking its armor with a chance for the Front-7 but

was derailed in the 4th frame. Eventually three other bowlers were able to string the Front-3 Taps throughout the day... however, that all changed when Cal Fisher was able to string the highest Consolation of the day with the Front-4 for $150.00. The Jackpot makes another BIG JUMP to $11,502.00, inching closer to the All-Time record of $12,626.00.
 

 
Only joining the 9-Tap Tour a little over a year ago, Michael Miller is now a 1st-Time Champion, earning the coveted blue jersey.  He has consistently bowled throughout the year with his previous high of 14th Place, which was also at Bowlero-Paradise. He had no explanation on why he was "ON FIRE" this weekend, shooting 3 of his 4 highest games since joining. He commented that he never expected to win a Title...SURPRISE, SURPISE, SURPRISE... he got his first star by rolling a monster 811 series.  He began bowling in the 80's and early 90's but took a hiatus from bowling for about 30 years.  After retiring from Law Enforcement (30 years), teaching in the Puyallup School District (14 years), and building his strength from a hip-replacement in 2023, he wanted to try bowling again.  Michael said that he appreciates the atmosphere and competitive edge the 9-Tap Tour has to offer.  He wants to thank Shawn and Tom Donahue, Troy Fischlin, and Ben Madsen for their support Sunday.  He will be sharing his $2,613.00 winnings with his wife and to fund future tournaments. 
    
Shooting his highest series to date, Brian Lascala took 2nd place shooting an impressive 800, just ONE MARK short of his first Title. Joining the Tour two years ago, his highest previous finish was 8th. He has consistently worked on his craft to reach the top rung only to miss it by 11 pins this weekend.  With the top spot now in sight, everyone should be watching Brian in future events. He will be taking home a nice $1,150.00 this week!
 
We had a tie for 3rd with Mary Bridgman and Kris Koepke, both shooting a sweet 798.  Both finished only 22 pins away from the top. They found the shot and they each put together 3 strong games, just not quite enough to earn what would have been Mary's first Win and Kris's 2nd Title.  They each took $444.00 for their strong showing.
 

Next week we will be at Bowlero-Acme for our Tour favorite 'Best 3 out of 4' format.
