Another amazing weekend at Secoma Lanes where our 2nd Quarter Championship reached a record 301 Entries, which created enormous total payouts of $20,813.00.  Even the Bracket Table's 'Scratch Pot' set a Record, topping $1k for the first time, with $1,070.00 paid out.  The large turnout also produced TWO more assaults on the 9-Tap Jackpot, with both Steven Nolan (Sat.) & Tong Nguyen (Sun.) tossing the Front-6 Taps, giving them each a 'GOLDEN SHOT' for #7 and the Jackpot.  Steven got a 7 count & Tong got 8, leaving both to share the $500.00 Consolation.  The Jackpot still grew to over $6,000.00 for next week, triggering an automatic payout increase, so Consolation Ties will now be Paid-in-Full.

 

74-year-old Dennis Latham lead the way as the weekend's Top Qualifier with one of only two 800's tossed, earning him the new Storm Ball & the T.Q. Jacket. 

 

61 Finalists produced many great scores in the first three Knock-Out Rounds and once we reached the Brackets, starting with the Sweet-16, we saw many hard fought Head-to-Head matches.  The Elite-8 included four bowlers chasing their 1st Tour Title, but in the Final it was two Members each looking for Title #3.

In the next round the ELITE 8 battled it out for the Top 4 spots.

That brought us to the FINAL 4: 

Eddie Burdsall 172 d. Bruce Mang 160,

Matt Hert 203 d. Sa Roung Tang 189. 

For 3rd place, Bruce Mang & Sa Roung Tang each collected $491.00

 

That led to our final between Matt Hert and Eddie Burdsall, both going for their 3rd Title.  In the end Eddie's 269 defeated Matt's 234. 

2nd Place went to Matt Hert who seemed to have the 'Hot Hand' in the Finals, after qualifying #5 with a nice 775.  Earning a hefty $1,334.00. for his weekend's work, we commented, that it would have been about the same size as a Champion's check only a few years ago. 

2QC Champ Eddie Burdsall outlasted twin brother Greg (17th), both qualified with similar scores (702-698), making them one of several family members that both reached the Finals, creating the chance for a rare head-to-head match that didn't materialize.  Eddie shot well in the Finals, but admitted having some luck to survive a tight semi-final match.  Eddie earned a sweet payday, a very nice $3,011.00, which pushed his career earning closer to the $20,000.00 mark, currently $18,112.00.
