Wow what a turnout. Despite road closers and sunny weather we had a great turnout at Bowlero-Lynnwood. Squad one and two were both a complete sellout. With permission from the management at B-Lynnwood we were able to add extra bowlers to squad two since there were still bowlers wanting to sign up. We did get behind, but we avoided turning away any bowlers.
The 9-Tap Jackpot continues to torment everyone. Getting the front four for the second week in a row, David Kim was sitting good to take the consolation prize again this week. Of course, that didn’t come easy, there were quite a few that took a good shot to dethrone him. For the second time this year, Helen Salagan had a shot at the Middle-7 only to throw a real strike on shot number seven. Helen was among many bowlers down from Canada this week. In squad three, we had Bill Henry stringing 7 of 8 Taps and Ruong Sa Tang hitting for 6 of 7. Well, it didn’t end there, in the last game of the last squad Ruong Sa Tang got ANOTHER shot at the Middle-7, only this time he hit ALL SEVEN for a sweet $750.00 (see video below). It the picture you can see how much Ruong’s 3-pin was leaning and it almost fell. The Bowling Gods were with Ruong Sunday!
For the fourth week in-a-row we had a First-Time Champion. Congratulations to Nicholas Buchanan. Nicholas’ accomplishment Sunday shows that with practice and determination you can achieve anything. Nicholas began his bowling career in 2024, yes that’s right just one
year ago. He joined the 9-Tap family earlier this year. Wearing his hand-me-down Dexter shoes he soared to the top with an monstrous 894 series. He said he just felt good from his very first shot. He’d like to give thanks to Rob & Margie for helping him calm down. After a BIG start his third game really fell off (171 throw away game), but he pulled it back together for a HUGE final game to take the crown.
Not far behind Nicholas was Kyle Lutz shooting an awesome 868, that normally would have been more than enough for the Title. Kyle joined the 9-Tap family back in February after struggling at first, he’s really started to put it together these last few weeks. He’s well on his way to capturing his first title soon. Clearly someone to keep an eye on in the upcoming events. Kyle came close to his first Title, but settled for a hefty $1,267.00 for his great set.
Rounding out the Top 3 turned into a Top 4 thanks to a tie for 3rd place. Tong Nguyen and Irene Balane, both shot very nice 808 series. Irene was also chasing her first Win, while Tong, one of the original 2002 Tour Members, was gunning for his 15th Title.
Next week we will be at Kent Bowl. Squad times are 10:00 – 12:30 & 4. Progressive Pot is at $3,061 and the 9-Tap Jackpot is at a whopping $10,449. Hope to see you all there.
Gina Breeding made ‘bowling cake’ for Jeff Price and it was so amazing, we had to share a picture!
