This Sunday, 9 Tap Tour went to the "other side of the pond" to Port Orchard's Hi Joy Lanes on a beautiful day inside and out. We had another superior turn out with 201 entries for the day, and because of a 3-way tie at the cut line we had 41 bowlers make the cut list. Scores were right in the Goldilocks zone with 5 bowlers bowling over 800 and a very fair cut line of 710.
The 9-Tap Jackpot had an interesting day of ups and downs. Isaac Joseph had the Middle-6 Taps going, and when the ball hit the pins it look like the 6 pin was going to stay standing, until the "Messenger" came shooting across the deck knocking it out, and giving Isaac a real strike (click here to watch video). It looked like we were going to be paying out 3 bowlers, when in the last game of the day, James Pippen hit the Front-5, and won the $375.00 consolation prize. The 9-Tap Jackpot will be at $8,518.00 when we comeback from break.
Most all bowlers think that they will do really well in the house that they bowl in, but end up getting frustrated cause the shot is different. Luckily this wasn't the case for our 1st time 9-Tap Champion, Chuck Marshall, shooting an incredible 841. Chuck bowls morning leagues at Hi-Joy since he retired from Costco, enjoying a 32 year career. Chuck was wearing his Dexter SST-8 shoes on his way to victory, and wanted thank his best friends Teddy Drake, Brett Harrison, Jenn Jacobs, and Shane Hall for all of their support. Chuck earned a crisp $2,786.00 for his great effort on the day. Congratulations Chuck!
Looking like this bowler was going to win his 1st title until the very end (I did not mention Chuck's recap sheet was the last one entered), Brian Ward shooting 832, took 2nd place in the tournament. Brian doubled his career earnings with his $1,234.00 check he received.
Another bowler looking for his 1st championship was Ericson Natividad scoring 829, just 3 pins behind Brian. Ericson still earned a nice check of $617.00 for his 3rd place performance.
