What an amazing 3rd Quarter Championship at Daffodil Bowl. The nice weather and Fair opening didn’t keep our 9-Tap family from coming out to Daffodil for a weekend that broke many records. For the 6th tournament in a row we crown a 1st time champion making this 10 of the last 12 events. That wasn’t the only record broken this weekend, the Scratch Pot was a record $1,060.00 and side pots hit a record $4,421.00. The 9-Tap Jackpot continues to challenge everyone. With the front four were Samson Ibale, William Hunter, Yabsira Yoseph, Brian Selck, Dakota James and Joseph Frank, III, each receiving $150.00. Despite the $900.00 paid out, the Pot still grows to $11,177.00 for Bowlero in 2 weeks.
Lewis Harley 90 years old, Ernie Jones 82 years old and Chuck Hufford 80 years old, all proved that regardless of your age you can compete on this Tour. With 295 entries and a huge 60 Members in the Finals, these “young” men each made the cut and showed very well. A big shout out to them all of them
The Monster Finals format in the first three rounds definitely produced some exciting competition. The large numbers produced SIXTEEN Byes in the 1st Round. Huyen Thai and Kevin Mock tied for the 16th spot, so a coin toss broke the tie with Kevin winning the BYE. The third and final Monster Round ended with a THREE-WAY tie for the final spot in the Sweet 16, requiring a 9th-10th frime roll-off. Charles Clarke, Korby Kencayd & Jay Pannette each had a chance, but it was Charles Clarke who came up victorious thanks to a dramatic pick-up of the 5-10 split!!
Alex Cady led the pack as the Top Qualfier with a great 848 series Saturday. His score held up Sunday earning him both the STORM Ball and the new Top Qualifier Jacket. Nice bowling Alex.
The Elite 8 - William Hunter 248 d. Earl Kleist 211, Jamal Muhammad 237 d. Leo Morzo 216, Charles Clarke 260 d. Ashley Kochel 197, Marshall Carter 266 d. James Mitchell 254.
FINAL 4: Jamal Muhammad 266 d. William Hunter 256, Marshall Carter 232 d. Charles Clarke 217
FINAL: Marshall Clarke 299 d. Jamal Muhammad 220
1st Place - For the 6th week in a row we crowned a first time Champion Sunday. Congrats to Marshall Carter who earned a sweet $2,702.00 for his weekend's efforts. After previously finishing 32nd in the 1st Quarter Championship he definitely stepped it up this time. Marshall realized he started each game a little off but was able to adjust quickly and comeback strong in the last three matches. He officially retired this year and will use his winnings to help build a new “home” for his Cobra kit. He is so grateful to Cheryl and her mom for all their support.
2nd Place – Jamal Muhammad sure gave it a go hoping to capture his 3rd title. But it was tough to beat an opponent striking 9 of the first 10 frames. Of course splits in the 5th and 6th frames didn’t help either. Jamal still smiling as always, took home a big check for $1,220.00.
Charles Clarke and William Hunter round off the top finishers, each taking home $432.00. Qualifying 25th and 30th respectively, both men fought their way up the ladder falling just short.
Thank you everyone for a wonderful and exciting weekend. We will be taking a weekend off and hope to see you on September 14th at Bowlero – Tacoma.
