Our 1st 'String Pin' Tourney met with a wide variety of feedback from the bowlers... mostly positive. We saw many examples of the good breaks and badbreaks that we heard about. Most said that they felt that they evened out, more or less. Overall, the scoring was clearly lower and we will go ahead and count the scores. which will benefit most of the averages. The next time we return to Bowlero-Acme, we will make an adjustment to the lane conditions (oil pattern) which should help bring the scoring back up to normal levels.
The expected increase in 9-counts was evident right out-of-the-gate in the first squad. We immediately had 3 bowlers reel off the Front 5-Taps, then in the second game, Ruong Sa Tang not only strung the Front-7 he added an 8th Tap for good measure (see video at https://youtu.be/GgLpJR-iO2E). The irony was his attempt on #7 was met with several AW's as it didn't look promising, but his ball caught just a bit of the headpin and it turned out to be good enough for a $4,000 PAYDAY! We wouldn't have been surprised if a few more bowlers hit the jackpot, but that never materialized.
Li'i Kalima-Marion doesn't re-enter very often, but his decision to try again Sunday sure paid off!! He said that he caught several good breaks in his first entry, picking up a few spares that he really didn't deserve... but only caught one similiar break during his winning entry. That break came at a crucial time when he really needed it. Li'i takes home $2,673.00 for his re-entry. Shortly after joining the Tour in early 2024, Li'i claimed his first title, Now almost 14 months later he claims his second... will this be an annual thing for Li'i, only time will tell. Big thanks to his wife for always supporting him. Li'i and his wife have been saving to take a few trips this coming year, so this win will definitely help with those plans. When he is not on the lanes, he has a passion to rebuild old school cars.
Not far behind was Sol Villena, her 767 put her in second place taking home $629.00.Sol joined the tour in March 2024, this is the second time she captured 2nd place. She is definitely dedicated to the Tour, as she, along with some friends, make the trek from Canada several weeks each month. We thank Sol and all the Canadians for their continued support.
Rounding out the Top 3 was Serina Reese shooting an excellent 761, earning her a hefty $315.00 to put in her pocket. Serena originally joined the Tour way back in 2015, but took a long break from 2017 - 2024. Since coming back Serina has cashed in multiple events, but still looking for Title #1.
