Bowlero South Seattle
March 30th, 2025

Total Paid Out: $29,660.00

Wrap Up
This weekend the 9-Tap Tour went to Bowlero-Acme for the 1st Quarter Championship.  We had a record total of 299 entries that placed 61 bowlers on the Cash List, which led to a HUGE payout of $29,660.00 for the weekend. Despite nearly reaching 300 entries for the first time, we turned away ZERO bowlers and stayed ON-TIME for all 5 squads, thanks to the great support from Jay (Manager) and his crew!  NEVER before had we seen 61 Members reach the Finals and while we had a few slowdowns managing those numbers, the Finals otherwise provided many impressive individual performances and many GREAT matches!!  Not all of the Final Four were in the Progressive Pot, so there was a lot of extra dollars that carried over, boosting next week's Progressive Pot back to GIANT size at $4,492.00.  That GIANT Pot could open-the-door for our SIXTH straight $3,000.00+ Champion next week.  In our spectacular record shattering 2024, we only had ONE $3K Champ all year.

'JACKPOT KING' EARL KLEIST took down the 9-Tap Jackpot for his FOURTH time, earning a record $9,930.00 for the feat.  Earl was one of the original Tour Members who joined in 2002 and over his 23 years on the Tour, we know that the 'King' filled the 'Royal Coffers' with well over $30,000.00 from the Pot, although we don't have an exact figure of all he's collected over his 23 years.

Marshall Carter earned the New Storm Bowling Ball and the Top Qualifier Jacket with his sweet 811.  Marshall joined the Tour in 2023 and this was by far his best performance.  He was bowling like he was possessed this weekend not only earning Top Qualifier on Saturday but also surviving in the Finals all the way to the Elite 8, earning a nice $270.00

Sunday, the last chance squads, gave members another chance to make it into the finals.  After cutting down the 61 qualifying bowlers to a Sweet16  with 3 Monster Rounds, the competition switched to head-to-head matches.

SWEET 16: Marshall Carter 298 defeated Joyce Roberts 214, Paul Kelly 270 defeated Earl Kleist 179, Jen Gangwish 242 defeated Chuck Hufford 235, Mike Crowe 246 defeated James Strand 232, Luis Micheri 244 defeated Edmond Nera 144, Bob Anderson 237 defeated Melanie Silkett 221, Charles Daughery 255 defeated Oscar Gestoso 209, and Donnie Krissak 288 defeated Jack Dompier 263.

In the next round the pressure was mounting as the Elite 8 battled it out for the top 4 finishers.  Paul Kelly 249 defeated Marshall Carter 193, Mike Crowe 225 defeated Jen Gangwish 191, Luis Micheri 266 defeated Bob Anderson 209, and Donnie Krissak 208 defeated Charles Daughery 198.

That brought us to the Final Four with Luis Micheri against Donnie Krissak, and Mike Crowe against Paul Kelly.  Luis, Donnie, and Paul were all going for their 1st Title, Donnie joining the Tour last month, Luis joining this weekend, and Paul joining in February of last year.  It seemed like beginners luck was determing this Championship.  Mike and Luis won the battle. For 3rd place, Donnie collected $416.00 ($10 pro pot), and Paul received $502.00

That led to our final between Mike Crowe (the Veteran) and Luis Micheri (the Rookie).  Mike had mentioned Luis was the one bowler he didn't want to face in any round because Luis is such a great bowler, but Mike pulled it off defeating Luis 237 to 209

This is Mike Crowe's 3rd championship. His first was a 'Dad's Day' Doubles, while both of his Singles Titles have come at Bowlero-Acme.  Mike wore his Dexter SST 8 shoes and bowled like a champ to defeat all of his opponents without any huge games, just consistantly solid, ranging from 225 to 246. Ultimately he won the Title with a 237 in the last round to become the 5th straight Champion earning $3K or more at $3,024.00.  He said it was a long day but it was worth it!  Mike wants to thank his friends Betty, Greg, and Jeff Price for cheering him on.  He plans on using his winnings on tools for his wood shop.  Congratulations Mike!
