Wrap Up

Another spectacular weekend at Secoma Lanes, as we watched the leader board change all day.  With 178 bowlers showing up, it proves again that Secoma Lanes is one of the Tours popular bowling lanes.  Scores at the start were right on target, but as the day started to heat up, so did the scoring.  Of the 36 places on the cash list, we had scores over the 1000 series mark, with a low to cash of 930 which is perfect.   The most exciting part in this tournament was the top four bowlers were all looking for their first championship and all shooting their personal best scores.  With Jesse Sherman setting the bar at 996 after the first squad, it didn’t take long for that to be knocked down.

The 9 Tap Jackpot got blasted today.  There were two bowlers that had the chance to throw one ball for $500.00.  Tom Weber’s valiant attempt came at the end of his game in the 11th frame, where he came up just short with an count.

Tong Nguyen’s chance came a game later where he could finish out the 10th frame, getting the first two only to get a count in his final frame.  At the end of the day we had an incredible bowlers finish with the front 4 taps, each receiving $100.00.

Just joining the tour last month, our Champion is Kalym Henry.  Kalym is Bill Henry’s son, who is the owner of Bowlero Lanes in Tacoma.  After re-entering the 2nd squad, Kalym grabbed is Hammer Black Widow Ghost, re-centered himself with ice in his veins, and just torched the lanes with a massive 1107 series.   Kaylm’s score was his personal best, beating it by over 100 pins.  This was also Kalym’s last chance to bowl, as he starts his new adventure in life, by leaving for College this week.  His first place check of $2,302.00 should help him pay for College, but we hope he leaves some for play.

Coming close again in second place is Samen Seng.  Samen has had two other second place finishes but just can’t get to that top spot.  Samen bowled in all three squads, but got hot in the last squad stroking a nice 1090 series.  Samen takes home his second largest cash prize of $1,031.00

A nice little background story of our third place finisher. Coming back from heart surgery, where he said, “I could finally breathe when bowling”, John Hart takes third place.  Leading after the 2nd squad, John shot a nice 1088 series.  Leaving the lanes with that huge target on his back, John who lives in Chehalis, returned back to the lanes only to find out he was overtaken in the 3rd squad.  Nice come back, John, as he collects a fine check of $565.00.
