Bowlero Lynnwood
Mar. 12th, 2023

Total Paid Out: $11,587.00

Wrap Up

Sunday, the 9-Tap Tour headed up north to Bowlero Lanes in Lynnwood, to what turned out to be the LARGEST turnout we have ever had at that location.  First and foremost, we would like to thank Jay and his staff for all the help accommodating the 176 entries that showed up, with few lane issues with as much bowling as there was.  The scores were nearly the same as the last time we did the 3 out of 4 tournament with a cut line of 712 (last time 722), 35 bowlers ended up over the line.  The total payout $11,587 was the largest since, March 2019 Secoma Lanes tournament ($11,588) not counting Quarter Championships or 3-region tournaments.

The 9-Tap Jackpot dodged getting hit big this week, with some close calls.  Thang Duc Thai shot for the Middle-7, and threw a great ball on the money shot crushing the pocket and the pins.  Jessica Trinidad-Hill finished a game with 9 straight strikes, 8 of them 9-taps, with the one natural strike in the 7th frame.  Eddie Burdsall had the Front-4, and in the 5th frame looked like he was getting money before the 10-pin fell down on the 4th wiggle.  Mark Sauve accomplished the Front-5 taps to receive the consolation prize of $375.

The gentleman that received the biggest 1st place check not counting 3-Region Tournament or Quarterly Championship since December 2012, is also one of the Tour's friendliest members, Jerry Smith, shooting a 798.  Jerry started on the Tour back in 2002, and in that time, his highest finished in his 20 plus years was 2nd place.  Jerry's ball of choice was his Columbia Scout Reactive drilled by Dann Sanchez at Big Vinny's Pro Shop at Kent Bowl.  Jerry wants to thank his wife for all of her support, EJ Byxbe and his 9-Tap Tour Family for cheering him on.  Jerry plans on using his $2,770 check on some new bowling shoes, fixing his car, bowling, bowling, golf, and some more bowling.

The man with the proverbial target on his back going into the final squad, Adam Steen, ended up taking 2nd place with a score of 795.  This could have been his 1st championship also, if Jerry didn't punch out his final game.  Adam was very happy with his bowling, and taking home a giant 2nd place check of $1,229.

Squeaking into the 3rd place slot was Tim Fierro, after a rough start in the first two squads.  Tim was looking for his 4th championship, (2nd singles) scoring 789 and receiving $669 for his efforts.

Next week is the 1st Quarter Championship, two-day tournament.  Please check out the Wednesday newsletter for all the rules and prizes.
