The 9-Tap Jackpot dodged getting hit big this week, with some close calls. Thang Duc Thai shot for the Middle-7, and threw a great ball on the money shot crushing the pocket and the pins. Jessica Trinidad-Hill finished a game with 9 straight strikes, 8 of them 9-taps, with the one natural strike in the 7th frame. Eddie Burdsall had the Front-4, and in the 5th frame looked like he was getting money before the 10-pin fell down on the 4th wiggle. Mark Sauve accomplished the Front-5 taps to receive the consolation prize of $375.
The gentleman that received the biggest 1st place check not counting 3-Region Tournament or Quarterly Championship since December 2012, is also one of the Tour's friendliest members, Jerry Smith, shooting a 798. Jerry started on the Tour back in 2002, and in that time, his highest finished in his 20 plus years was 2nd place. Jerry's ball of choice was his Columbia Scout Reactive drilled by Dann Sanchez at Big Vinny's Pro Shop at Kent Bowl. Jerry wants to thank his wife for all of her support, EJ Byxbe and his 9-Tap Tour Family for cheering him on. Jerry plans on using his $2,770 check on some new bowling shoes, fixing his car, bowling, bowling, golf, and some more bowling.
