Kent Bowl
Mar. 26th, 2023

Total Paid Out: $11,295.00

Wrap Up

Kent Bowl hosted the 9-Tap Tour on Sunday for the first time in over a year.  First of all, a BIG Thank You to Kevin and his staff for a near flawless job on Sunday getting the lanes ready and hosting all of us.  We had 37 bowlers make the cash list, out of the 187 entries, for our Sunday 3-Game Special.  The 187 entries pushed us way over the 500 mark for entries in March.  Great Job Bowlers!

The 9-Tap Jackpot dodged getting hit big for another week.  A couple of chances happened for the Middle-7, including Paul Mann, who went for the 7th, but left the 5-10 split.  We had a tie for the Front-4, but in a rare occurrence, the same bowler tied himself.  Adam Steen hit the Front-4 in the 1st squad, and then followed up and accomplished the feat again in the 2nd squad.  Adam received $300 ($150 from each squad), for his efforts.  The 9-Tap Jackpot grows to $9,823 for the tournament at Secoma Lanes next Sunday.

This week's champion is no stranger to the winner's circle, Thang Duc Thai, winning by 1 pin, with a score of 815.  This is Thang's 10th championship in his career with the 9-Tap Tour, and his first tournament win since July 2022.  Ironically, Thang won the exact same amount this time as he did the last time, $2,249.  Thang wore his Dexter 9 shoes while throwing his Storm Fate, drilled by Pat Johns.  Thang was cheered on by his brother, and fellow competitor, who he enjoys bowling with Huyen Thai.  Thang said he is going to use his winnings by taking the family out to dinner.  Congratulations Thang!

Another veteran of the Tour established the benchmark on Sunday, Earl Kleist, who shot an 814 to take 2nd place.  Earl just got back from his 2 month hiatus to the Phillipines, and is starting to get back in the groove to earn $1,009 for his efforts.

Our only other score over 800 was shot by the early leader of the Bowler of the Year standings, Jessica Trinidad-Hill with a score of 807.  This is Jessica's 6th straight tournament making the cash list, and her 3rd Top-3 finish of the year.  Jessica collected $540 this week for her great bowling.
