Bowlero Tacoma
Mar. 19th, 2023

Total Paid Out: $10,060.00

Wrap Up

We rolled into Bowlero-Tacoma for our 1st Quarter Championship, with high expectations.  The Tourney did not disappoint!  We'd like to thank Bill and Tinafor the good food and keeping the lanes operating throughout the weekend.

The tournament started with 53 entries taking the top 11 in the finals. Samson Ibale led the way shooting 1054 receiving the first bye into the Finals, and a cut line of 932.  The 2nd squad saw the scores jumping up everyone shooting a 1000 making the Finals, led by Jesse Sherman 1076. In the final squad on Saturday, Tara Strand fired 1130 to get the Storm Bowling Ball of her choice, and since no one topped her Sunday the Top Qualifier jacket.  Sunday we combined the two squds to get our last 13 members into the finals.  Marilyn Mateo led the way firing a 1009 to get the final automatic bye of the tournament.  The cut line dropped for that squad to 899 for Marcus Simmons.  The ironic thing was Marcus didn't think he made the cut and was halfway home, when a bowler called him to tell him the good news and he came back.  That was the best call Marcus could receive on the day.

Elite 8 L to R - Ashley Kochel,       Final 4 L to R - Ashley Kochel, Marcus Jonathan Fahlander, Marcus          Simmons, Joe Ferrara, Saman Seng Simmons, Will Twyman, Jerry Smith, Samson Ibale, Saman Seng, Joe Ferrara

It looked like it was only going to take the Front-4 in the 9-Tap Jackpot this weekend, but in the last squad, Ed LeBaron in his 3rd game, topped the leaderboard with the Front-5.  A washout in the 6th frame stopped his run but then hit 9-Taps in the 7th, 8th, and 9th.  Ed received $375 for the 5-taps.

Championship Round, Saman Seng vs Marcus Simmons

Talk about a incredible finish for the Championship, this one came down to last frame!  This season's 1st Quarter Champion is the aforementioned Marcus Simmons.  He needed to get the first two strikes in the 10th to win his 2nd career title.  Marcus shot 218, 307, 209, 277 for the championship round. Marcus 1st title was just last month at Bowlero-Lakewood.  Marcus said, he was less nervous about this title compared to the 1st one.  Marcus used his Storm Proton Physix drilled by Randy Maccomber at Paradise Lanes.  Marcus went home a second time, but this time with a $2,344 check.

1ST. Quarter Champion - Marcus Simmons

Saman Seng shot great all weekend getting a wild card bye with his 1042 qualifying score on Saturday.  Saman shot 179, 257, 253 and 261 in the championship bracket.  Just two open frames in the final kept him from getting his 1st championship.  Saman still came out ahead with his 2nd place check $1,053.

Tied for 3rd place goes to FIVE-TIME Champion, Ashley Kochel, and looking for his 1st title Joe Ferrara.  Ashley won our last quartlerly championship back in September but could not keep up her hot streak against Marcus.  Joe made it to the semifinals beating a hot Nikolaus Hodges and the all-time everything, Samson Ibale, but ran out of gas against Saman.  Ashley and Joe both received $384.
