Secoma Lanes
August 14th, 2021

Total Paid Out: $7,767.00

Wrap Up
Secoma Lanes always provides scores in our ideal scoring range with perfect 'Cut-Lines'.  Things were looking great with a very nice 1035 series to lead after the first two squads and a perfect 'Cut-Line' at 905.  After our little break and a re-oil, things were looking a little off as many bowlers were tearing it up.  Our thoughts were maybe the warming air temperature was affecting the lane conditions, but after some investigation, the mechanic discovered that the oil machine had reverted back to the 'house shot'.  Suddenly we had TEN 1000+ series in Squad #3 alone.  Our directors decided to be fair to everyone, we would have to divide the tournament into two separate tournaments.  This shows me (Harold) why we use Tour conditions, not House Shots.  After only ONE 1000 series in the first half, we had a total of TWENTY-FIVE 1000+ series, including SEVEN 1100 series, in the second half.  Making this the MOST UNIQUE Tourney in our 19 year Tour History.  When we've had accidental House Shots in the past, they always produce scores in the 1000s that don't make the Cash List.  ALL SCORES FROM SQUAD #3 & #4, WILL NOT BE COUNTED FOR AVERAGE COMPUTATIONS.  We had told all the 4th squad bowlers that with the scores as high as they were in the third squad, we were expecting big or bigger scores to come.  My-O-My did they ever.  The good news with the split squads it did create one more on the spot on the "Cash List"

We did have TWO near misses at the Middle-7 Tapson the same pair & same game Dylan Wooley managed 7 of 8 Taps with a real strike on #6 in that string, while Jason Young had 6 in-a-row getting to throw one shot for $500.00 (see video).  Watch the 10 pin closely, it wanted to stand up.

Our first half Champ is Vernon "Skip" Shear.  Skip rolled a very nice 1035 series in the first squad.  This is Skip's 3rd title which includes an "Elite Tour Title" a Quarterly Championship and now the only "Split Tourney" in the Tours history.  This is his second tour win at Secoma.  Throwing his Storm "weak ball", drilled at Secoma by Robert KellySkip said he needed to keep his ball speed down and sometime would over throw it.  His first place finish cashed him in $959.00.  Plans on using it to do more bowling.

Second Place winner is Oscar Gestoso. Trying for his 4th title win, Oscar came up one pin shy of 1000, at 999.  Coming off a 7th place finish at Narrows Lanes last week and now a second, looks like his dialing it in for another title.  With his second place finish Oscar claims $436.00

Third place went to "Hall of FamerBob Rouse.  Already with 7 titles, he got close to his eighth, shooting a 983 series.  HIs winnings of $288.00 pushed his Prize Money Earnings to $42,258.00 mark, #7 All-Time on the Career List.
