It was truly a 'RARE' day at Narrows Plaza Saturday, in many ways!  Rare that the 11am squad was bigger than either the 2nd or 3rd squad... Rare that the scoring was higher than we've seen in many YEARS at Narrows.  We saw some great bowling all day, with Members topping 1000 in every squad, although the Winning 1044 was well within our normal range.  But, very Rare for Narrows, was the high 957 'Cut Line' which came as quite a surprise... making the Cash List was WELL EARNED by all!!  But the RARE 1st Place TIE, made the headline of the day!  After they split the $2,700.00 in 1st & 2nd Place money, they both enjoyed the nice payday of $1,350.00 each.  (this 'Tie' was not a record, we had a THREE-WAY TIE in 2008 that Willie Downing was a part of)   Roland Jarata provided the 'scare' that we predicted for the 9-Tap Jackpot, when he strung 5-Taps, but didn't get the needed break on #6... the $250.00 Consolation should soothe that pain a little.

The 'shared' Title went to a First-Time Tour Champion and to a Very Hot bowler who just Won his first Title last week.  After joining the Tour 3 1/2 years ago, Zac Clute finally won his first Tour Title at last week's Bowlero-Acme Tournament.  Zac continued his HOT STREAK this week with a beautiful first squad 1044.  Zac was a 'nervous wreck' last week, waiting to see if his 3rd squad score would hold up through the last squad... this week he shot his BIG score in the 1st squad and had to endure the next THREE squads as his score barely held-up for the WIN!!  In the 2nd squad, Rick Howerton broke through for his first Championship.  A crushing bad break in his final frame derailed his chance to win it outright, when he thought he threw a good ball for a 2-4-5 conversion, but a 'cherry-pick' left the 5 pin standing, creating the 1st Place Tie.  Each Co-Champ took home $1,350.00 for their effort... much more than a normal 2nd Place check, but obviously less than a regular 1st Place check.  Both bowlers had similar handicaps of 14 & 15 pins and each shot 4 consistently good games, with Rick's low game a 222 & Zac's being a 233... very impressive!

In 3rd Place, Joseph Frank III finally broke through in his 12th Tour Entry.  Joseph joined the Tour in June at our Dad's Day Doubles, cashing that day, but struggling ever since.  He set a Personal Best with his excellent 1028 series, in addition to his best finish and biggest payday at $424.00.
