Wrap Up

Suffice to say that Jason McReynolds is off to a monster start in 2020 as with Saturday's win, he's already two for two...Much more on Jason to follow...

With the 'Best 3 of 4' format in play, Bowlero Lanes hosted the tour for the first time in '20 as we had 108 entries which would normally mean 22 on the Cash List.  This time, however, we had a FOUR-WAY tie in the final cash spot and if you'll recall, a couple of years back it was decided if there was a tie in that final spot, the bowlers who tie will split the payout.  We don't think we've ever had a four-way tie, so instead of paying out just $15 per bowler, we added $60, much to the delight of Mike MillerPeter NovakMike Ragan & David Pettengill, Jr.

The Cut-Line was on the low side at 701 as it was one of those days where one bowler (McReynolds) was able to put it together and run away from the pack.  The 9-Tap Jackpot was never really threatened, but Heather Schaaf did make a good run at the 'Middle 7' with five straight only to slightly pull her sixth shot to end the excitement.  There was a FIVE-Way tie for the Jackpot consolation for the 'Front 3' as we paid out $75 each to Brian SelckTong NguyenReuben PedroZac CluteNathan Koprek & Pen Liddy.  The Jackpot remains strong as we head to Secoma Lanes next week!

The Tour is certainly on a roll in the new year with already EIGHT new members as after adding David KedziorskiRichard GalawayDiane Paynton & Ross Thomas last week at HiLine, we welcomed four more this week with Brian ManuelGail BeckerYoung Pettengill & David Pettengill, Jr. joining the family this week!  Of those eight, Galaway (last week) and Pettengill, Jr. (this week) have already found themselves on the Cash List!

Our Top 10 had Andy Snow in 10th with Heather Schaaf and a tired Chris Andreula in 9th & 10th resepectively. Bowlero specialist, Justin Miller won his first title there back in October while this week his impressive 760 was good for 7th!  Walt Dalrymple & Brian Peters wound up just one mark out of 2nd while a late arriving (only a couple practice shots) Shawn Evans finished 4th with his 776, just one pin from making the podium. Side note: We mention Chris's being tired, because he and his lovely wife, Darian welcomed their 2nd child, a beautiful baby girl just over a week ago on 1/3.  Congratulations to the Andreula's and welcome to the world, Ava Rae!

Tong Nguyen didn't start out the day very well, but came on strong in his reentry, firing a 777 to finish in 3rd for $434.00 while Dan Grass found himself confident with his recent change regarding his bowling ball weight, he said changing to 14 lbs was "The right move!".  Dan's 2nd place finish was good for $874.00, nice shooting, Dan!

So, in the first paragraph (above) we already let the cat out of the bag as to who the winner was on Saturday. There's much more to the Jason McReynolds story as perhaps he's on an unprecedented roll of late...In the last year, Jason has raised his average by 20 pins which will climb even more after Saturday's performance where he fired 1000 scratch if you count all four of his games, but his 850 total made for a runaway.  Going into last week's Kickoff Doubles, it was his brother Jesse McReynolds who teamed up with Jason to win his 2nd title.  It didn't take long for Jason to catch Jesse with his 2nd tour win as Jason's Motive 'Fire' ball, drilled by Tom Stahl from Pat Johns' Pro Shop at HiLine, did the trick!  Wearing his Dexter 'The 9' shoes, Jason said he was "Calm and relaxed until the last game and frame."  Then the wait was on as because he bowled in the 1st squad, he had to hang out and wait all day long to see if his score would hold up.  Jason mentioned a big "Thank You" to his family and added "This is a great experience, always happy and friendly people!"  Well said, Jason and congratulations!
