Bowlero Acme
February 22nd, 2020

Total Paid Out: $8,843.00

Wrap Up

Bowlero South Seattle (SouthCenter) was the venue this week as another super turnout resulted in some big scores!  It's always hard to make the right adjustment to the oil pattern after a lower scoring tournament such as the one we had in our last visit, as a unit of oil or going a little longer could potentially open the flood gates...The adjustment this time was a little too much as our cut line went from 885 the last time to 959 on Saturday.  Moving forward, we'll adjust again in our relentless effort to get it just right!

Jesse Sherman hit the front 4 taps to earn the $150.00 consolation as the 9 Tap Jackpot took a huge leap to $8,583.00 as we head to Bowlero Lynnwood next week. We're bringing back the $10.00 on the spot cash payout to anyone that hits the first two taps. This is unlimited throughout the day, but bowlers do have to be entered in the Jackpot for $1 per game.

Also for next Saturday, this will be our 'Leap Year Special' with February 29th falling on a Saturday as it only does once every 28 years...Having said that, our Champion will hold onto this unique 'Leap Year' Title for 28 years. Among the title perks will be the 'Leap Year/Leap Frog' bowling ball which will be awarded to the Champion along with the normal champion's shirt designating the rare occasion.

Despite the high 959 cut line, just eight of the 28 bowlers who cashed, broke 1000.  Included in that group were Skip Shear (1000), Mike Miller (1007), Huyen Thai (1008), Kai Pedro (1013) & Bob Felix (1018).  Shear, Pedro, April Lord-Wittig & Brian Peters all shot 300 games as well this week.  The Red-Hot, Jon Schneider was trying to go back to back as after winning his 10th career title last week, he posted an impressive 1034 to finish in 3rd for $412.00.  James Strand was trying to get his fifth title, but came up 12 pins shy after a slightly off third game.  James shot 1041, but reeled in $966.00 for his runner-up finish.  Nice shooting, James!

Kris Tong, our latest first time champ, has been with the tour for about 2 1/2 years and has had his ups and downs...In this span of time, Kris has come close to victory a couple of times with a 3rd Place at Kenmore Lanes last February and more recently, in August he was 2nd, which was also at Bowlero S. Seattle.  Kris can often be found practicing with his brother's Kare & Kannha at Secoma Lanes where it just so happens that he got his Storm 'IQ Tour' ball drilled up by Robert Kelley from Peter Somoff's Pro Shop. Kris said he was wearing his Dexter 'The 9' shoes as he fired off his title winning 1053 series.  The huge $2,165.00 check will go towards his upcoming Carribean cruise and Kris said he wanted to thank his aforementioned brothers, along with Sam Em, Tom and his co-workers & friends and added "I was calm throughout the whole series." and when we asked him if he had anything to add he simply said... "FINALLY!"

Great shooting, Kris & CONGRATS!
Special welcome to our newest tour members, William Schuur, Dakota Crosby, Jennifer Alvarez & Jeff (JP) Price.
