Wrap Up

What an 'Action Packed' Day at Bowlero!  After the crazy scores we experienced at last week's 'Score-Fest', it was nice to see those totals return to our normal 'Ideal' scoring range... except for ONE bowler, who must have thought the Score-Fest was still happening.  Kannha Tong made history Saturday, when he broke the Tour's All-Time RECORD, for a 'Best 3 of 4' format, with a staggering 906 series.  More on how he was able to accomplish that feat below.  The 9-Tap Jackpot experienced the assault that we expected... with just a few games to go in the day, James Strand had the Front-4 Taps making him the SIXTH bowler to reach that point.  If it remained that way, the Pot would have taken a $900.00 hit (6 x $150).  Instead, James converted the 5th Tap to bump all the others off the board, earning$375.00 for the Front-5... but we weren't done yet.  Shortly after James

got the Front-5, Dean Hale had one of the toughest heartbreaking 'Bad Beats' that we've seen.  Dean earned an 'All-or-Nothing' chance to throw ONE BALL for $750.00, after stringing 6-Middle Taps... on his shot for #7, the last pin fell so late, that the automatic scorer even showed it as a 9-Tap (click on the picture to check out the video).  As a prelude to Fathers Day next week, we even had TWO Father & Son duos make the Cash List this week, John Moore Jr 14th & John Moore III 24th, along with our 2nd & 3rd Place finishers Mike Miller & Son-in-Law Brett Schaaf.  Special THANKS to Layton Shirley (mechanic) who's done a GREAT job of rejuvenating Bowlero's machinery.

At least one bowler cracked the 800 mark in each squad, with Sam Emstarting it off with his 801.  In the 3rd squad, Brett Schaaf posted an excellent 829, pushing Curtis White's 807 down a notch, but Brett's Father-in-Law Mike Miller was just getting lined up in the 3rd.  On his 4th Squad re-entry, Mike returned the favor, dropping Brett down to 3rd.  Brett had a spectacular 2018 on the Tour and it was nice to see him get back in the groove, with his first Top 5 finish this year, worth a sweet $425.00.  Mike had bowled very well in his last Tournament, at the recent 2QC, only to end up with the high score not to make the Finals.  This week Mike left no doubt, with his strong 841 he moved into 2nd Place and collected a hefty $810.00 payday, earning his biggest check and topping his best finish since joining last year.

The BEGINNER is not a BEGINNER anymore!  Kannha Tong took up bowling late in 2017 and was coerced by his relatives (Kris, Kare & Sam) to join the Tour right away (first Tour event -Bowlero 9/16/17).  He was using a house ball for the first few months, until he got a Storm'Match-Up' from Sam.  Through Kannha's first six months, he really struggled, never finishing in the Top 20.  So, in the Spring of last year, he basically started all over again, switching to a two-handed style and getting some private lessons (3).  In the just the last 12 months (prior to Sat.), Kannha had already raised his average by an enormous 28 pins, Won 2 Titles and earned nearly $7000.00.  Saturday he became the first Tour Member to break 900 in a 'Best 3 of 4', breaking Danny Ramos record of 890, set in 2011 at old Imperial Lanes.  He used his DEXTER 'The 9' shoes and his STORM 'Pitch Black' drilled at Haley's Pro Shop in Arlington.  Kannha now has earned his 3rd Champion Jersey (white), picked-up a nice $1,774.00 check, pushes his earnings to $8,974.00 and will now lose even more handicap.  Quite a skyrocketing success story over in just 12 months, a beginner no more indeed!!!

DOUBLES: Watch for Wednesday's Newsletter, for more details on next week's 'Multi-Cash Doubles & Dad's Day Special'.  Entry Fee$30 per person...
