Thanks to Mike Martin and his crew at Secoma Lanes for helping us put on a Super 2nd Quarter Championship where we had plenty of excitement all weekend long! There are MANY unusual numbers to talk about, so let's get down to it...176 total Entries was our biggest singles tourney turnout since Mother's Day 2014.  Two of our Final Four, including our Winner posted $0 & $10 into the Progressive Pot, leaving $838.00 in carry over for next week atNarrows Plaza Bowl making that pot $2,927.00!  Even though we had plenty of folks stringing 9-taps, just William Kenny & Tong Nguyen were able to string four to earn $150.00 each as the Jackpot grew to $8,812.00, it's highest point in several years. Five of our Elite Eight Finalists were chasing their first title while our Ladies were well represented with three (Donna Columbo, Marita Long &Linda Newman) in that Elite Eight and another five (Ashley Kochel, Madelin Coughlin, Lisa Seifert, Joyce Roberts & Tara Strand) on the Cash List . We also had a 3-Way tie at 899 between Jerry Smith, Leon Bemis & Walt Dalrymple for our last two qualifying spots, so we decided instead of having those three roll off, we'd add an extra spot to the Finals. Amazingly and ironically, Leon & Jerry wound up tied again for 3rd Place overall! Also, in the Finals, Leon hit the front five 9-taps, which as you know doesn't pay off in the Finals. There were seven bowlers who qualified with scores over 1000 and all seven were eliminated before the Elite 8. This included Tim Fierro who was our Top Qualifier for Saturday AND Overall with his career best 1095 series. This was not only Tim's best ever, it was the first time he's ever broken 1000! Good News for Tim, he won the Storm Bowling ball of his choice along with the Top Qualifier Jacket...Congrats, Tim!

 

Skip Shear did have a previous title in our Elite Tour (for higher average bowlers) several years ago, but he's bowled with us off and on since 2011 and could never quite crack the Top Spot...that is until Sunday when he put it all together! Although Skip did have to survive probably the hottest bowler on Sunday, when he and Dan Grass (qualified w/1045) met in the Sweet 16 and both had their lowest games of the day with Skip edging Dan 187-179 to move on. Skip then went on to dominate, finishing the Finals with 236, 261 & 287 for the Title! Skip used his Storm 'Tropical Heat' ball drilled by Secoma's ownRobert Kelley from the Peter Somoff Pro Shop and he said that he'd spend his winning check on his Daughter Jennifer as she will be married coming up in September. Shear added that he couldn't have done it without the support of his good friend's Tim Fierro and Walt Dalrymple. Even though he said that Walt had to leave early to go to work.  Congrats Skip!

 

Our Runner-Up this week, Thanh Ament is one of our newer bowlers, having just joined us in January. Thanh made a great run at his first title but ran into Skip's best game of the weekend (287) in the Final match. $921.00 for 2nd Place should ease the pain for losing that match and we congratulate Thanh on his best performance to date!

We also would like to remind everyone that the Dad's Day Doubles Tournament on June 16th which was originally scheduled for Bowlero HAS BEEN MOVED TO PACIFIC LANES!!!
