Daffodil Bowl
October 20th, 2018

Total Paid Out: $7,471.00

Wrap Up

This week The Tour crowned our 18th First-time Champ of 2018, we had two Jackpot shots at $500 as the 'Middle 7' opened up for the first time since August AND we are now over $20,000 paid out this year out of the Jackpot alone!

The 9-Tap Jackpot had two big shots taken, first by Don Becker, who had six middle taps with a shot at the seventh and $500.00 while later on, Larry Dunson had the front five with a shot at the sixth also for $500.00.  Click the photos below to see those two shots!

As you can see, especially by his reaction, Don got a real strike on his shot at $500 while Larry left the 3-9 sleeper on his.  Because Larry's shot was on the front end, he earns$250 in consolation.  As we move to Kenmore next Sunday, the Jackpot increases to $4,161.00 keeping the 'Middle 7' in play.

Apparently, it was welcome back old-timers day as we were happy to see three different blasts from the past with Ed Berger returning after over 14 1/2 years, Randy Day after 5 1/2 and Ken McAllister after 5. Welcome Back, Fellas!

Bowler turnout was much like the scoring was on Saturday as both improved slightly with each squad as 109 total entries and a tie in the last spot resulted in an extra 23rd Casher.  Four bowlers broke 1000, starting with Donna Columbo, who brought her 'A' game, firing one of only two 300 games shot this week on her way to a 4th Place 1007 and $353.00 including her scratch pot win!  Thatta Girl!

Just ahead of Donna, in 3rd Place was David Kim, who seems to like Daffodil...after shooting 1023, he found himself in a familiar position, LEADER as we entered the Final Squad. We didn't do the actual research, but there have been multiple times this year alone when David led, only to be knocked off late in the day.  3rd Place along with first place in the scratch pot earned Mr. Kim $605.00 for the day.  Great shooting, David!

After already having SIX Top 10's this year, Ed Berg shot well enough to win his first title this week, in fact, Ed's 1031 series came within five pins of his previous best. Positive from that is that when he shot his Personal Best 1036, it was for 6th Place that day.  2nd Place this week was good for$951.00 as Berg makes a serious run on the 'Bowler of the Year' standings, entering this week in 9th.

As we mentioned, we crowned our 18th First-Time Champ of2018 as Tim Fierro enters the prestigious 'Hall of Champions'.  Tim, who joined the Tour in 2016, bowled in all three Squads, ultimately entering that famous 'ZONE' that we all are searching for, shooting the best he ever has on Tour.  Fierro shot 254-300-220-243 scratch games for a 1097 total w/hdcp to run away from the field.  Good friend, Walt Dalrymple was quick to point out that Skip Shear, who usually bowls with he & Tim, wasn't there Saturday, so it seems when Skip is absent, Walt & Tim get it done as was the case when Walt won earlier in the year.  All three now have wins in 2018.  Pat Johns drilled Tim's Storm 'Code X' ball and Tim said he was wearing his Dexter 'The 9' shoes.  Tim said "The first two squads were rough." as he shot sub-800's in both, "then", he went on to say "In the last session the lanes reacted like they do on league night." Tim wanted to thank Walt and the entire group that makes The Tour so GREAT!"  Congratulations, Tim!
