Secoma Lanes
June 17th, 2017
Total Paid Out: $9,825.00
Secoma Lanes is very centrally located for most Tour Members and has become one of our most popular destinations, so when we decided to have our Dad's Day Multi-Cash Doubles there, WHAT A TURNOUT!!! We broke several records on Saturday starting with 175 Doubles TEAM entries. Also broken was the total payout record as we were just shy of $10,000.00 at $9,825.00! Stating the obvious, but Multi-Cash means that bowlers can Cash as many times as possible and Earl Kleist did just that, getting on the Cash List a record smashing ELEVEN times breaking the previous record held by Mike Leemoui &Rich Eaton. Great bowling, Earl!!! An optional $5.00 high game (w/hdcp) pot was open to all of the participating Father's and paid out $530.00! The end result included some very impressive games as you can see below:
The 9-Tap Jackpot was also in play this week as Liza Laed& last week's Champion, Will Cotton both hit the front four 9-taps, sharing $100.00. The Jackpot really jumped for next week's 'Best 3 of 4' format at Narrows Plaza Bowland is now at $2,877.00!!! Scottie Fulp had a great day as well, almost sweeping the Scratch Game & Series pots, earning $290.00, including a 300 game and a couple of spots on the Cash List! Also with an impressive day was Huyen Thai, who finshed in 3rd Place with partner Earl Kleist and was another to take avantage of the Multi-Cash situation, cashing SIXtimes! In all, four teams cracked 1000, including a very impressive showing from the Bob Rouse/Angel Inouyetandem as they finished in 4th Place, splitting $260.00, the Kleist/Thai partnership shot 1016 for 3rd Place and$440.00 while Kleist (again) teamed up with Pat Riley for 2nd Place and $1,056.00 with their 1032 score! We do these Doubles Tournament's twice a year and in our 15-year history, nobody has won in Doubles twice...untilnow! With that, we'll anointKarol Knight as our very own 'Doubles Specialist' as she is the first to do so as she and partner, Donnie Robertslinked up to shoot an eye-popping 1056 series to split the Title share of$2,114.00. This was Donnie's first Career Title and Karol's second as she wore her purple Dexter shoes and threw her Storm 'Lock' ball. Donnie's tool of choice was his Hammer 'Legend' and both Donnie & Karol had their equipment drilled at Secoma, byRobert Kelley who seems to be a very common go to guy for many of our Champs. Donnie bowls league at Secoma,HiLine & Daffodil and Karol shoots at Secoma & HiLine as well, adding in a Summer League at West Seattle Bowl. Karol says that her portion of the winnings will go towards her "vacation pot" which includes a trip to Iowa for her Mom's Memorial with a rather long detour to Atlanta to take in a Mariners-Braves game. Donnie says his portion will assist him in celebrating his wedding anniversary on an Alaskan Cruise and added that if there is anything left "another bowling ball". Donnie & Karol bowl together on Thursday's and decided "Last minute to team up" as Karol put it and they both agree as Donnie said, "It was nice to win with a great friend!" Donnie thanked his "lovely wife, Joyce" and Karol gave kudos to her friend, Mike Leemoui, deeming him her "good luck charm". Hobby Profile for Donnie - Retired from umpiring baseball, soccer referee, plays softball and is an "avid" Seattle sports fan. Karol - loves gardening, baseball, hiking and reading Stephen King & Dean Koontz novels. Congrats to BOTH of you! |
