Paradise Bowl
Aug. 12th, 2017

Total Paid Out: $6,429.00

Wrap Up

The smoggy Northwest sky finally cleared up allowing everyone to get out and get some fresh air for the first time in a couple of weeks and although turnout wasn't super, we still managed 102 entries atParadise Lanes.  9-tap streaks were few and far between as just three bowlers managed the front three 9-taps, earning $25 each allowing the Jackpot grow to $3,834.00.  Everyone knows Stu Gallagher to be somewhat of a 9-tap expert as he put this game together (see photo below) and as we approach the $4k mark for the Jackpot, this would have been good for $1,000.00!

Everyone knows Leon Bemis as one of our Floor Directors and he has been helping us (primarily with scoring) for MANY years now along with the fact that he is an original Tour Member (#76).  Leon typically bowls in the 1st Squad (with Stu and Donna Columbo) and this week he posted a HUGE 1048 series as the score to beat.  There were MANY bowlers with chances to knock Leon out of the Top spot, but one by one, they all had that one game which took them out of the running.  In the end, Mr. Bemis earned his 7th Career Title and $1,456.00.  Leon bowls in multiple League's around the Sound and is well known and respected in the bowling community.  Wearing his Dexter Shoes, he used his Storm 'Timeless' ball drilled by Robert Kelley from Secoma's Somoff Pro Shop.  'Timeless' is fitting for Leon as he is approaching what will be his 85th birthday in December.  Below are photos of Leon present day on the left and Leon after his first Title back in 2004.

Rounding out the podium this week were Kai Pedro (2nd) with a1033 & David Kim (3rd) with a 1021.  For Pedro, this his is 2nd straight impressive performance as he took $865.00 along with another $195.00 from the Scratch Pots.  When Kim departed for the day, he likely knew he'd cash but probably didn't think he'd done enough to finish as high as 3rd.  David pockets $424.00 for his nice performance.  Kudos also go to 4th Place Mike Metcalf (1014) and 5th Place Rick Thompson (1008).  Great shooting gentlemen!

With Bemis having just $10 in the Progressive Pot, Secoma's pot will be at $2,041.00 for next week as we hope to see everyone at Secoma Lanes!
