Paradise Bowl
Apr. 8th, 2017

Total Paid Out: $8,539.00

Wrap Up

Let's start out this week by talking about the 9-Tap Jackpot as going into the Final couple of games on Saturday at Paradise Bowl, we had a 9-Way tie for the consolation with Pearl Sedeno hitting the front 3 taps TWICE!  Then, in the final game, within about two minutes of each other, James Pippin & Frank Cruz, Sr. hammered out the front 4 to earn crisp FIFTY-Dollar bills for themselves!  The Jackpot is fast-approaching the $4k mark as we head to West Seattle Bowl. A quick 'Shout out' to Tour Veteran, Enrique Gray who, after an eight-count in his first frame, he reeled off the next SIX 9-taps!

Collectively, Saturday's scoring was a little on the high side as we made an adjustment to the pattern in an attempt to scale back the scoring from our last visit to Paradise Bowl.  The adjustment did work as far as the Top scores are concerned with no 1100+ results, but we have some more brainstorming to do because the 'Cut-Line' was still on the high side at 972.  As one can imagine, with just 90 pins separating the top & bottom cash spots, this made for a huge number of ties. We did expand the Cash List asBob Rouse and Lucas Victor should be happy to see.  Interestingly, there were SIX two-way ties and one THREE-way tie on that Cash List which made for more ties than we've seen in quite some time!

The Top 17 on the 'Cash List' did break 1000 this week and after the 1st Squad, ODDLY enough, six bowler's broke 1000 with scores of 1002, 1004, 1006, 1008, 1010 and rounded out by the sole and self admitted 'Oddball' of the group (his words), Leon Bemis with his eventual 6th Place 1013 series!

Oscar Gestoso had a great day, as he closed out with a 3rd Place 1029, earning $467.00 in his best performance of the young year...Nice shooting Oscar!

Kai Pedro had his A-game this week as he nearly earned his 2nd Tour Title by shooting 1054, earning $933.00 and an additional $160.00 from the Scratch Pot.  Kai really had it going, throwing a 300 game as well as the front 7 of his final game.  Had he struck into the 9th frame, he likely wouldv'e won that elusive 2nd Title.  Way to go, Mr. Pedro!

Before the last squad, when Rob made the normal Tour announcements, we handed out two Champions Shirts, the first to Rob Blaisdell for his 1st win at Kenmore Lanes a couple ofweeks ago and then we gave Samson Ibale his 'updated' Retro Shirt after we added the 21stGold Star which represents his record 21 Tour Titles. Well, It seems that we've run of things to say about Samson...Hmmm, we'll still give it a shot!  This week, Samson needed a 279 in his final game to win his 22nd Title.  Did he get it done, you ask?  Well, he got to the 10th frame needing that first strike to do so and yes, he got it!  Fortunately, for Samson he didn't need the 2nd one because he left a split on that shot to shoot 286!  Samson padded his bank account with another win and $2,083.00 along with another $125.00 from the Scratch Pot.  Outstanding Job, Samson!
