Paradise Bowl
Nov. 11th, 2017

Total Paid Out: $11,816.00

Wrap Up
World War I ended 99 years ago in 1918 at the 11th Hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month making November 11th Armistice Day which we would eventually call Veterans Day in the United States.  This weekend, for the 12th consecutive year, we at the Tour celebrated and honored our own Veterans and it's the least we could do as we love our Vets and hope that they felt that love this weekend!

Big thanks to the Paradise Lanes crew for hosting us again this year as we broke some records: First, 151 entries (previous record 143 twice) and then another record $11,816.00 total paid out (previous record$10,961.00),  which included an extra Cash List spot added for 31 Cashers!  And how cool is this??? Of those 31 Cashers, about 50% are Veterans!   Saturday's Top Score was a solid 1019 by Martin McElroy, who was also entered in the Vet's Pot, earning the Vietnam Vet (Army 1965) the Storm 'Rocket'donated by Jim's Strike Zone at Daffodil Bowl.  Also on Saturday, we held drawing for all bowlers entered in the Saturday squads... FOUR $50 Safeway Gift Cards were awarded and all 4 cards were won by Vietnam era Vets.  Wes Puishis (Navy 1959-66, deployed to Vietnam), Willie Downing (Air Force - deployed SE Asia 1968), Pete Wood (Navy Air 1966-70 - USS Saratoga deployed Mediterranean), Bill Jones (Marine - deployed Vietnam 1966).

You could say that Tong Nguyen was carrying a decent amount of stress around overnight Saturday and well into Sunday, for it wasSaturday when Tong hit the 7-Middle 9 taps.  That alone would earn him$500.00, problem is that he had to quietly hope that nobody would equal or better him!  He asked us multiple times while bowling was in progress if we could pay him early...That's not how it works, Tong!  Great news for him, it wound up holding up and we did eventually fork over the cash!

The Vet's Pot wound up topping the $2,000.00 mark for a record$2,065.00 with all former Army winners!!! Curtis White's 317 (high game w/hdcp) for $620.00,John Shaw's 309 for $515.00Garret Jones's305 for $413.00Martin McElroy's 302 for$310.00 and Jamie Nazario's 298 for the remaining $207.00!!!  Congrats Gentlemen!!!

In addition to all of this, we still had a tournament going on as we had FOUR very solid squads and overall scoring was a bit on the low side.  Just four bowlers broke 1000 yet the 'Cut-Line' was still at a very reachable 942.  In fact, Two 942's were shot which is why we added the 31st Cash spot!

Army Vet, John Shaw fired a 1004 late on Saturday, earning himself 4th Place and $270.00which went well with his $515.00 from the Vet's Pot!
Gomer Braganza finished in 3rd Place with a 1015 for $450.00.  Gomer has been with us for over three years and won earlier this year at HiLinefor his 2nd Title!

Martin McElroy finished in 2nd Place, nearly going wire to wire with his impressive 1019 series.  In all, Martin had quite the weekend and year for that matter...Let's see...$310.00 from the Vet's Pot...the Storm ball...almost hs 4th Title...won his 3rd Title earlier in the year at Secoma Lanes...Hit the 9-Tap Jackpot for $1,774.00 last year...Six total Top 10's in 2017.  We'll close out Martin's success story with the fact that his 2nd Place check was for$836.00!  Nice shooting, Martin!!!

Notice to all Men on Tour:  Women have won three of our last four Tournaments!  That's right!  Rose Hudson, then Donna Columbo and now with another dominating-type performance, shooting a massive 1094 series...Wow!  This week's Champ is Lisa Seifertand it's her first win as she raked in $1,815.00.  But wait!   It's not her biggest pay day on Tour and she's only been with us since last January.  Some of you will recall that Lisa pulled in $2,809.00 for hitting the Jackpot at Skywaylast February.  Her previous best finish was 6th Place and this performance shattered her personal best scoring record by 95 pins!  Curtis Messer at Pacific Lanes drilled Lisa's Track 716T ball and it was brand spanking new!  It seems that Lisa's good luck charm is Husband,Greg Seifert who bowled with her along with Jason Hummell who was in town and talked the Seifert's into bowling with him.  Lisa said she was "Very nervous, but settled down and threw my best."  She aso wanted to thank friends Donna Columbo (winner last week) and Barb Rosengren (also winner on Tour) for their support!  Lisa closed out her day by saying "Thank You to everyone, I'll use my winnings for some Christmas shopping!"
