Wrap Up

Wanted to start off with an apology...This week we set up a shot adjustment for Secoma Lanes and let the oil machine do its job...I (Steve) then failed to go out on the lanes to check the shot and to my surprise, the machine errored and put out the incorrect pattern.  This resulted in a much longer oil pattern than we've had in a LONG time.  The good news is that pretty much everyone shot great on Saturday!  The bad news is that "great" wasn't good enough to cash for many who had excellent performances.  The 'Cut-Line' was at an all-time high 1081 as 38 bowlers broke the 1000 mark and with 83 entries thats 45% of all entries.  Rob & Steve discussed this and we have decided to not let an unfortunate set of circumstances have a bearing on anyone's handicap.  What this means to you, our bowlers is that the high scores will not affect your handicaps going forward.  Again, I'm truly sorry for the oversight ~ Steve

Having said all of that, somebody had to win this week and the best bowler of the week took care of business as Ken Seaton shot the 2nd best score in Tour history with a 1210 series.  Tom Melberg finished 2nd with an incredible 1202 in the Final Squad after earlier posting what many perceived as unbeatable 1176 which would have placed him in 2nd Place anyway.  Tom gets $771.00 for 2nd Place.  In 3rd Place this week was a pretty good story...Chris Pierce showed up to bowl and saw Melberg's 1176 and remarked that he wasn't going to bowl because it was unbeatable.  That was the last we thought we'd see of Chris until he returned a short time later saying that his wife, Heidi told him (in so many words) that he could do it!  Chris then proceeded to fire off the best scratch score of the day, an 1132 (1172 total) and $387.00 for 3rd.  Good job Chris & Heidi.

There were 62 entries after the 1st Squad and the posting of the Monster 1176.  A HUGE shout out to those who came and gave it their all!  Impressive Stuff, 9-Tappers!

A Record SEVEN bowlers combined for TEN 300's on the Scratch Pot (three tied with two each) while Pierce got the High Scratch Series followed by Samson Ibale, who finished 2nd with a 1127.  There is only one way to shoot a 299 in 9-Tap bowling and that's by it being a 'Natural'.  Both Jon Schneider and Andrew Ng had the front 11 'real' strikes as they went for 300 games...Schneider threw his final shot slightly tight, leaving the 4-pin for a 299 game!  A little later, Ng had his shot as well and as he stepped up for the final shot, the lanes malfunctioned, freezing him for about 3-4 minutes before he could take the shot.  After the wait, Andrew finished with a 299 as he left just a 6-pin.  Great games, Gentlemen!

Maria Bowler and Bob Berryman both hit the front 4 taps sharing the $100.00 consolation as the 9-Tap Jackpot climbed to $2,019.00 for next week at Skyway Park Bowl

Back to Mr. Seaton...Being that the 1210 series is the 2nd best ever for the Tour, it was for sure his best performance and we don't think that he even realized that he had won as he finished.  Ken used his reliable old Hammer 'The Sauce' to do the job and said he was relaxed and "in the zone".  With the $1,716.00 Winner's share, Ken cracked the $15,000.00 mark in career earnings with $15,910.00.  With no real plans for spending his earnings, Seaton will spend it wisely, we're sure.  Ken thanked the Tour and everyone for rooting him on.  We congratulate Ken for an outstanding performance and big kudos to Tom Melberg for his incredible day!
