HiLine Lanes - Burien, WA
March 5th, 2016

Total Paid Out: $7,494.00

Wrap Up
Saturday at HiLine Lanes started out like any other Tournament we've had there with scores on the moderate side. With a smaller than normal early Squad, Stu Gallagher led early on with a 1007, the sole bowler to break 1000...It didn't take long for the competition to heat up and the scores to skyrocket as after that 1st Squad, 13 other bowlers wound up making and/or breaking that 1000 mark!  In the end, 109 Entries brought 22 bowlers to the Cash List with a unusually HIGH Cut-Line of 985.  We think weather may have had a hand in the lane conditions as it was the very same shot that was put out in recent history at HiLine where our last four Tournaments  had Cut-Lines of 922-950-950-901.

The 9-Tap Jackpot DID have a pursuer as an excited Josh watched his Dad, Chuck Gonsalez throw the front-5 taps, then mysteriouslydisappear for a couple of minutes.  We think it was the nerves, but will leave it at that...When he returned to take the 6th shot, he stepped up and was distracted briefly so stepped off of the approach, then returned to throw a REAL strike, which more times than not, is how the 9-tap strings end.  Chuck earned $375.00 while the Jackpot moved up to $8,091.00 for next week at Skyway Park Bowl.  Speaking of SPB, TAKE A LOOK AT THE PROGRESSIVE POT, FOLKS!  $2,625.00 means a $20 investments will likely equal better than $2,300+ next week for 1st Place!  You don't wanna miss out on your cut of either Pot!

John Chey and buddy, Jamie Nazario had just finished the 2nd Squad and because their pair was the last to finish, practice time was about ready to start for the 3rd Squad but they wanted to reenter...We always try to accommodate bowlers who want to bowl together but the Squad had already taken shape.  They decided not to enter at the last minute because we couldn't place them together when Lynn was able to do some juggling and got them together.  This worked out well for John as he fired a 931 scratch series, besting his Career Best by 91 pins and stealing away 3rd Place fromSteve Bowyer by just 7 pins.  Chey earns $498.00 while Bowyer gets $216.00.

Finishing 2nd this week was lefty, Ed Mlynski who also threw a Career Best (by 107 pins!) 920 scratch series.  You could tell when he collected his $996.00 check that Ed was a happy camper as he was grinning ear to ear.  Nice shooting, Mr. Mlynski!

Jon Schneider is your Champ this week as he earned his 9th CareerTitle by shooting a sick 276-277-243-245=1041 scratch series, clearing 2nd place by 44 pins!  Tears of joy were in Jon's eye's as it might just be his best victory (sentimentally) of all his Titles.  John said that his 9-yr old granddaughter, Davine who was in attendance at HiLine, was likely going to be pulled from her Taekwondo classes as it costs (with sparring gear) $1,700.00 a year and the money just wasn't there.  Jon later said of his his $1,620.00 1st Place check "All of it is hers".  Jon said he had "Way too many LUCKY shots" and credits Pat Johns and his skills for drilling his Storm 'Avalanche' ball along withPatrick & Judy Robbins for doing so much to keep him calm during his run!  Jon also said that part of his "LUCKY" day were the haircuts that he & Davine received just before bowling.  Nice bowling, Jon!
