Daffodil Bowl - Puyallup, WA
February 20th, 2016

Total Paid Out: $6,628.00

Wrap Up
Andy Snow posted and early 995, which led after the 1st SquadSaturday, leading us to believe that it might be a somewhat lower scoring day at Daffodil Bowl...It's hard to understand/explain the dynamics of the game sometimes, but FOUR of the SIX bowlers to break 1000 came from the 2nd Squad.  Donnie RobertsBob Rouse & Alvin Koch went 4th, 5th & 6th, respectively as all three reached or beat 1000 with Roberts flirting with his Personal Best day on the Tour.  To the delight of Bronson Etse, down to a single pin, by finishing in a tie with Dan Watts, we added a 22nd Cash Spot as the 'Cut Line' creeped up to 931.

It's been a few years since the 9-Tap Jackpot was over $8,000.00 and although Saturday didn't produce any real threats to the HUGE Pay Day, we had several near misses for the 'Middle 7' which is currently worth $750.00.  Donna Columbo with 4-taps led all day until the final Squad when she suddenly had company, courtesy of Matt Carlson. With the Consolation amounts going up this week, both earned $150.00 as the Jackpot jumps to $8,232.00 for next week at Bowlero Lanes.

It was a Career Best 955 Scratch (1059 total) posted by Steve Wilson that took 2nd Place and $889.00 this week.  Wilson was on fire as he finished with a 287 (313) game to wrap up his day!  Wilson joined the Tour back in late 2012, after some time away, recently returned in pursuit of a Title.

Kai Pedro remains hot as, after a mediocre (for him) 216 (scratch) game, he tossed his final three games over 250+ , also having 6 of the front 7 9-taps in one of his games, narrowly missing the BIG prize!  Kai's showing this week earned him $441.00 PLUS another $225.00 from the Scratch Pot as he claims 3rd Place on a reentry after shooting 1000 in his first entry as well!

After some research and brain picking, it is official!  Michael Hopfner is the FIRST Two-Handed 'style' bowler to claim a title on the Tour!  Well, at least in the Puget Sound Region, but we think that to be the case Tour-wide...Michael was inspired to bowl this way after meeting PBA bowler, Jason Belmonte a couple of years back, this according to his brother and biggest fan, Todd.  Michael, like Kai had three 250+ games on his way to his 1st Title on the Tour and did so in his home house at Daffodil.  Hopfner said that he used his Columbia 'Crazy Antics' ball drilled by Daffodil's own Matt Surina and will use some of his $1,486.00 in earnings to purchase either a Go Pro Hero device or an iPad Pro.  When asked about how he felt today while bowling, Michael said it was "Like a dream of consistency, quite calm and restored to sanity"  Congratulations!
