West Seattle Bowl - West Seattle, WA
September 19th, 2015

Total Paid Out: $6,704.00

Wrap Up

Saturday
at West Seattle Bowl produced a little lower than average turnout, but the competition and excitement did not suffer at all!  There were 96 Entries and because of a somewhat rare tie in the last spot, an extra 'Casher' making for a total of 20. The tie caused a slightly diluted Cash List, but turned out to be a big PLUS for both Pam Sims & Judy Buchanan!

It was a pretty interesting day that developed for the eventual 6th Place finisher, Adrienne Summers.  First, she had 5 'Middle' taps, then threw too good of a shot for a real one, then followed that up with another tap which'would have been' her 7th for $500.00. In that game, she had the first 11 strikes before her 12th shot got away from her a bit...She then reentered and started the next game with the first 11 strikes.  Oh, what could have been for Adrienne had she been able to put those games together in the same entry!

Outside of Adrienne, The 9-Tap Jackpot really never had any threats asEarl Kleist walked away with the $100.00 Consolation for hitting the front 4 taps.  The Jackpot wound up coming up just $31.00 shy of the $6,000.00mark which will trigger another incentive which we'll talk about more when it happens.  The 'Bowler of the Year' competition tightened up even more as four of the Top 10 bowlers picked up points, including a hard chargingPatrick Dennis along with Samson Ibale and Thang Duc Thai who is gaining ground quickly on his Brother Huyen Thai, who sits in the Top Spot.  Also, this week's Champion Matias Oriza has cracked the Top 10 with his remarkable performance!

Congratulations to our 3rd Quarter Champion from a couple of weeks ago,Magic Bristol who not only made this week's Cash List but with the win at Kent Bowl, he's now a member of the'$10,000.00 Club' with $12,405.00 in career earnings (not counting side & Jackpot earnings).

Who says that lightning doesn't strike twice in the same place?  MatiasOriza, for one says so as he put together three BIG games and just enough in his 4th to catch and pass Thang Duc Thai, who 'most' thought was Title Bound after earlier shooting a Monster 1071!  The lightning reference regarding Matias is because he was just three weeks short of the anniversary of his first Title which also came at West Seattle Bowl.  In his first victory, he pocketed $2,011.00 while this week he earned a very similar $2,047.00 for his 2nd career Title!  This week's bounty pushed Oriza very close to joining Bristol in the '$10,000.00 Club' as he is now at $9,674.00.  Matias has never gotten hotter than he did Saturday as he topped his Personal Best by an impressive 67 pins!  This also follows up a 3rd Quarter Championship 3rd Place finish for Matias a couple of weeks ago so it's very safe to say he's on fire!

Matias used his Storm 'IQ Tour Fusion' ball, drilled by Norm at Kent Bowl Pro Shop and said he was nervous and excited and eventually "ran out of gas!" having just enough in the tank to take the title!  He gives much of the credit for this win to his family, Marisol, Patricia & Jacob.  He also wanted to thank his friends and fellow bowlers, Samson Ibale & Earl Kleist for their support!  Congratulations, Matias!

In 2nd Place this week was Thang Duc Thai who was going for his 3rd Title.  He earned a nice $914.00 to go along with another $210.00 that he earned from the Scratch Pot and as evidenced by his Final Squad reentry, he didn't think that his 1071 was enough to pull out the Title even though his score was a Personal Best (by 14 pins).

Gary Van Ness rounded out the Top 3 this week by firing 1031 with four very nice games.  Gary was also going for a 3rd Title and earned $457.00in  one of his best performances to date!  Nice shooting, Gary!
