Paradise Bowl - Parkland, WA
October 3rd, 2015

Total Paid Out: $8,290.00

Wrap Up

Random conversation throughout the day revealed that there were 'arguably' more 9-Tap strikes than the Tour has ever seen on Saturday at Paradise Bowl.  Unfortunately, no bowlers were able to string the necessary SEVEN together for the BIG Jackpot hit.  Dan WattsMatias Oriza & Bruce Gorr all three missed in the 2nd frame, otherwise hitting 6 of the first 7 9-Taps. L.C. Cofield had 7 of the first 8 taps as he missed in the 5th frame and rounding out the close calls was Rob Richards, who was interrupted by an untimely split in the 8th frame of his final game as he otherwise tapped from the 5th thru 11th frames.  All close calls for sure but the old saying about horshoes & hand grenades is fitting for Saturday's end result.  Kathy JohnsonTyrone Burney, L.C. Cofield & Matias Oriza all wound up with full shares of $100.00 as all ties are being 'Paid-In-Full' due to the Jackpot being over $6,000.00.  Even with the Jackpot paying out $400.00 this week, it still managed to increase to $6,429.00 for next week at Roxbury Bowl

Saturday provided scores right on target with a 'Cut-Line' of 935 and another very diverse Cash List ranging from -1 to +56 handicap, includingEIGHT Tour Ladies!  As the day progressed, 131 total entrants provided SUPER competition as there were lead changes after each of the first three squads.  Additionally, FIVE total bowlers reached the 1000 mark on the day with at least one to hit that 1k mark in every squad!  Pam Sims set the early pace by firing a 'Magical' 1017 set.  In the 2nd squad, Shane Thompsontopped Sims with a dazzling 1023 set of his own and sat on that lead until L.C. Cofield blew everyone away by 64 pins with a remarkable 1087 set. Adrienne Summers and Matias Oriza rounded out those able to top that 1000 mark.

The 'Battle' down the stretch for 'Bowler of the Year' (B.O.Y.) continues to tighten & heat up as SIX of the Top 10 made this week's Cash List.

3rd Place - Matias Oriza - With a 1019, the lone 1000+ series of the Final Squad, Matias certainly stays HOT!  He earned $481.00 and now has THREE Top 3 finishes in the last FIVE weeks!  Perhaps more importantly for Oriza, he earned the MOST 'B.O.Y.' points of anyone in the Top 10, closing the gap on the leader(s).  Stay hot, Matias!

2nd Place - Shane Thompson - Shane's been in a little bit of a slump lately as is evident by his 5 Bonus pin accumulation.  That all changed this week as he shattered said slump by virtue of his 1023 series!  After L.C. took the lead from him in the 4:30 squad, Shane opted to reenter and again shot big, but not enough with a 986, including a 300 game (w/hdcp). $862.00 in earnings will certainly cushion the blow.  Nice work, Shane!

Champion - L.C. Cofield - LeRoy was all over the money on SaturdayHe hit the Jackpot Consolation for $100.00, won a bundle more in brackets and another$300.00 from High Game Pots.  Oh Yeah, almost forgot, he cleaned all that up with another $1,906.00 for taking his 2nd Career Title...Not a  bad day, L.C.!  He now is at $12,890.00 in Career earnings, not counting his $1,960.00 Jackpot win back in June of 2014.  In addition to being a Tour regular, the retired Immigration Analyst and Spanaway resident bowls in several different leagues in the Tacoma area.  He won this Title using his Storm 'Tour IQ Nano' ball  which was drilled by John Burroughs in Las Vegas.  L.C. says he will share the winnings with his wife (Michelle) and Grandson (Mekhi) and wanted to drop a "Thank You" to Sue Packman along with lane mates Patrick DennisGanny Angeles & Willie Manning, Jr.  Nicely Done, Mr. Cofield!
