With the Streets of the Seattle area nearly empty, parking lots mostly vacant and store lobbies practically abandoned...26 bowlers still made it to the 5:00 Squad to enjoy a HUGE Seahawks WIN while GREAT competition was taking place at Kent Bowl, in the company of the 9-Tap Tour Family.  In the end, the expected impact of the game on bowler turnout (85 Entries) was evident, but it was still an awesome day with an electric atmosphere!  17 bowlers were on the Cash List with the Cut-Line right on target at 915.

 

With 4-Taps, Ron Rice from Yakima was the 9-Tap Jackpot Consolation Winner for the day and pocketed $100.00.  With that, the 9-Tap Jackpot inched over the $7,000.00 mark ($7,029.00) for the first time in nearly TWO years when it was hit for $7,730.00 by Earl Kleist in March of 2013 at Kent Bowl.  In the 1st Squad, Mike Tobin made an impressive run at the '7 Middle' 9-Taps, hitting 5 straight taps in the 4th thru 8th frames only to throw a perfect 'real' strike in the 9th.

 

Tour newcomer from a week ago at Roxbury Bowl, Huyen Thai put together a spectacular final game of 304 to finish in 3rd Place with a strong 1015 series, earning his first Tour check of $422.00.  Magic Bristol posted a massive 1030 in the 1st Squad and is obviously starting off the year HOT!  Magic already had two 'Top 7' Cashes at the Kickoff Doubles last week and now owns a 2nd Place finish as he just missed another Title by TWO pins.  In addition to his $819.00 check, Magic earned another $170.00 from the Scratch Pot.

 

Winning his 2nd Career Title this week and "hanging on' after firing an  Outstanding 1032 is Bruce Gorr.  The Win comes one week shy of the FIRST Anniversary of his FIRST Tour win at next week's Tournament site, Paradise Bowl.  Bruce is clearly after revenge as he is off to a Super head start this year after finishing right behind Kathy Johnson in last year's 'Bowler of the Year' standings.  Bruce's recent 3rd Place in December's 'Year-End Championship' Invitational shows that he's got the pedal to the medal of late and with four very solid games on Saturday is showing no signs of any letdowns.  Rumor has it that Bruce & Kathy are planning another trip to Arizona soon so we're sure that the$1,835.00 Winner's check will come in handy.  Congratulations, Bruce!
