Better than expected weather along with local Kitsap festivities such as the Armed Forces Day Parade and the Viking Festival conspired to limitSaturday's turnout for the Tour's return to Hi-Joy Bowl.  However, this did not take away from the wide open and exciting competition as the Cash List wound up at 14 with cut line at 899.  Local Kitsap bowlers were well represented as making the cut were Larry Tibbetts (2nd), Elvin Aponte(6th), Dennis Barton (11th) and Rhonda Samora (12th).  This was the 83 year old Tibbetts' best Tour finish since joining back in 2009, he also has 2-3rd's and 2-4th's to his credit and he took home a total of $909.00.  Will Cotton, who was seeking his 2nd Tour Title, finished in 3rd place taking home $479.00 and should enjoy the nice 'Bowler of the Year' points boost as he had entered the day 2nd place in the standings.  Tour newcomer Joe Trinka benefited from the Winner's Pot 'Pass Down' feature giving him asmall share of the Winner's Pot in addition to his 4th Place finish and a total of $281.00 in earnings.  As the 3rd and final Squad began, it was announced that only one person (Paul Rand) had 3-Taps for the day and was in the lead for the 9-Tap Jackpot Consolation.  When all was said and done, FIVE more bowlers (Connie Engh, Ben Moore, Shawn Evans, Matt Carlson& Melissa Clewis) tied Rand with 3-Taps, taking home $25.00 each.  Next week's Progressive Pot for our 2nd Quarter Championship is at a HUGE $2,775.00 so, DON'T MISS OUT ON YOUR CHANCE!

 

A very special thanks to Designs Unlimited & Hi-Joy Bowl for their added-money contributions this week!  This week's Champion is none other than Willie Downing!!!  Willie was the only bowler of the day to break 1,000 with a very nice 1,041.  He joined the Tour back in 2002 and this is his 4th Career Title.  With that, Willie is very excited that he will be getting the Gold Champions Jersey.  Each of his previous three titles have a unique twist...His 1st title in 2008 was a 3-way tie for 1st at Bowlero Lanes, his 2nd title was a Year-end Championship which earned him one of the white Tour Pennants, his 3rd title in 2010 was his first and only title where he was in the full Progressive Pot and he earned $1,929.00.In Saturday's Tournament, Willie put just $10 in the Winner's Pot, mentioning to Lynn when he checked in that it was because it was his first time to ever bowl at Hi-Joy (oops).  Willie takes home $1,206.00 for his efforts and says that he plans to pay some bills and buy a new bowling ball.Willie has worked for APM Terminals for an impressive 43 1/2 years and says that in his spare time, he loves to golf and enjoys going to the casino to play card games.To highlight his day, he said he was locked-in from start, and in the 3rd game he had 11 strikes in a row and on the 12th ball left 8 pins for a 298 as the 4 pin fell completely down then stood back up.  CONGRATULATIONS Willie on your incredible 4th Win!
