 It was snowing pretty hard on Saturday morning as some had to question whether or not they should make the trip to HiJoy Bowl in Port Orchard for the Tour's Final Satellite Tournament of 2014. As it it turned out, a very impressive turnout by some of our Tour Regulars coupled with an overall smooth day thanks to HiJoy's staff and great facility made for yet another exciting visit to the Kitsap Peninsula.
With the Cut-Line at 894, 13 Bowlers made the Cash List and just one bowler topped 1000, right on the number!
Really, the only bowler to make a run on 9-taps was Stu Gallagher who hit the front 4-taps and cashed in for a $100.00 consolation. This puts the Satellite 9-Tap Jackpot bank at $1,690.00 while the Regular Tour Jackpot is nearly 4 times that amount at $6,355.00 for next week atBowlero Lanes!
How about this for a battle? Bruce Gorr & Kathy Johnson have quietly been waging war on each other over the past few weeks as they have fought to see who could finish higher on the 'Bowler of the Year' standings. As Saturday finished, Kathy was 12th and Bruce 13th. With just TWO MORE PINS, Bruce would have cashed and won the war...Instead, Kathy takes the bragging rights for the next 12 months.
Paul Bitzer was cruising Saturday as he was chasing his 3rd Title since
 the $10,000.00 Club as today's 3rd Place finish puts his Career Earnings at $10,300.00. Also joining the $10,000.00 Club with his 8th Place finish this week is Jerry Hendrickson who is now at $10.052.00 in Career Earnings.A Tour Regular since 2009, Paul Mann was in his 'Home House' at HiJoy and was seemingly very confident in going for his 5th Tour Title. Paul finished just SIX pins short this week in 2nd Place, earning himself$567.00 which puts him at $11,949.00 in career earnings. This all in addition to the $4,757.00 Jackpot Win back in 2009. Nice shooting, Paul!
This may be disappointing to some but with there being no other 'Paul's' in the Tournament, the possibility of an ALL-Paul Top 3 was never a possibility. With that, in stepped Kerry Keels...Kerry was running late on
 Saturday, made it in time for the 1st Squad but didn't get any practice balls. Not a problem for Kerry as he went on to shoot the only 4-Figure number for the day with exactly 1000! The Victory is Kerry's 1st Career Title and makes him 2014's TWENTIETH First-Time Champion. Kerry, who joined the Tour in late 2012, is a U.S. Army Air Traffic Controller from Joint Base Lewis-McChord and missed bowling with the Tour for most of 2013 & 2014 due to his commitments. This week, he put it all together, breaking out with a career best series by 63-pins! Kerry used his Hammer 'Jet Black Taboo'ball, drilled by Dave Martin at Bowl Arena on JBLM. It was none other than "Dad's Biggest Fan, Neah" who was on hand to cheer Kerry on as he said that he "Felt good early on and the ball did all of the work". When asked what his plans were for his $1,134.00 in earnings, Keels said simply that he'd "SAVE IT!" Congratulations, Kerry! Well Done! |
