Wrap Up
The Top 3 finishers each broke out of extended slumps Saturday with some BIG games.  This was exactly the kind of Tournament that you love to see, with a large number of bowlers in a position for a Top finish going into their last game.  13 bowlers shot 750 or better and the Cut-Line was right on the money at 714.  Even some mechanical delays in the 1st squad, didn't keep some bowlers on those lanes from making it on the Cash List.  Dorrie Quirante (the 2011 9-Tap Jackpot Queen) returned to her 2011 form, getting the front 5 Taps to take home $250.00 in Consolation money.  Next Saturday's Mom's Day weekend Tournament at Kent Bowl, will include our 7th Annual Special Side-Pot for Mom's only.

Roxbury Champion Alvin Koch's climb to the Top, makes for aperfect 9-Tap Tour story.  He works with several Tour bowlers, who also bowl in the Law Enforcement League at Roxbury.  Theyconvinced Alvin to take up bowling less than a year ago.  He joined the Tour at the Dad's Day Doubles Tournament in June and not surprisingly he struggled.  NINE months later, his tenacity was being tested, since hadn't even made a Cash List yet.  He didn't give up though... instead he got some lessons from Matt Surina at Daffodil Bowl.  A week ago at the Daffodil Tournament, Alvin was in great position for a Top finish going into his last game.  Instead the wheels came off leaving him in 18th place, but he was excited to have FINALLY earned a check.  His first entry Saturday was barely above average, but he re-entered anyway, bowling with his co-workers Osmond Green andSiaman Ma (who both also made the Cash List).  Alvin SMASHED his Personal Best in the 1st game of his re-entry, then threw 2 mediocre games (one a throw-out).  Again he was in position for a Top finish, just like the week before.  This time was different... he SMASHED the Personal Best that he set two just games earlier with an impressive 258 finishing game and an Awesome 825 series.  That's a true Championship Story, with two PB's in one series, after not Cashing for 9 months previously!  Alvin said that he'd use the $2,158.00 he earned to take his wife Sandi out to the coast.  Matt Surina also drilled the Storm 'Lucid' that Alvin used for his Win.  He's worked for the City of Seattle for the last 12 years, after retiring from the Military.  CONGRATS Alvin for Win #1!!

Also breaking out of an extended Slump this week was the 2nd Place finisher Ken McAllister.  Ken was close to his 2nd Tour Victory, but he was also excited to get that 'Slump Monkey' off his back.  His 791 was worth a nice $963.00.  In 3rd Place, long time Tour Veteran Curt Sanborn had the lead after the 1st Squad.  Curt was also looking for his 2nd Title, just a few weeks past the 10th anniversary of his 1st Title at HiLine and pushed his Career Earnings to $12,354.00.
