We never know exactly what to expect when it gets warm outside, but it often impacts the lane conditions one-way or the other!  This week the impact was LOTS of very big games, but only a few bowlers that stayed hot for all four games.  With so many competitors throwing 2 or 3 BIG games, the Final Standings would have been HUGELY different if this had been a 'Best 3 of 4' format.  No changes to the oil pattern, still resulted in a higher Cut-Line than previous Paradise visits.  Paradise's 'streak' of huge Jackpot payouts was also slowed by the unusual conditions. The9-Tap Jackpot got off easy, with 3 bowlers tied with 4-Taps (M.McElroy-L.Cofield-P.Sims) earning $40 each from the Pot.  As a result, the Jackpot surged to $4,175.00, which triggers an increase in the payouts.  The consensus of the Members was to bring back the 7-Middle Taps... so that's what we'll do for the Roxbury Tournament on July 13th.

 

Our newest first time Champion is Kathy Johnson, who 'turned the table' on her near miss from last year.  15 months ago at Secoma, Kathy shot her Personal Best series, a GIANT 1088,only to end-up just short of the Title that day, when Earl Kleist shot even better. Saturday, Chuck Gonsalez held the early lead with a strong 1061, but this time it was Kathy, despite her admitted case of nervousness, who clipped the leader with an excellent 1068 to earn the Win.  Kathy was still looking over her shoulder for Earl, who was bowling very well in the last squad (6th).  Coincidence... Best friend Lisa Ohm also won her only Tour Title (2009) at Paradise, before moving to Arizona.  Lisa and Rob flew up last week and bowled in the Dad's Day Doubles together with son Alex (2010 Title), Kathy & Bruce.  Her secret weapon this week, was a Brunswick T-Zone, drilled by Robert Kelly at Secoma Lanes.  Kathy asked us to THANK her "Honey" and bowling partner Bruce Gorr.  They plan to parlay some of the$2,107.00 winners share at their favorite hangout, the Little Creek Casino.  Kathy works for Taco Time, putting in 28 years with them.  CONGRATS Kathy on your 1st Title!

 

Coming close to his 1st 2013 Title and his 3rd Career Title,Chuck Gonsalez was headed back home to Yakima with wife Dee and son Joshua, thinking his 1061 might hold up.  He admitted that he was afraid a few errant shots in his last game, might come back to haunt him... they did.  This was Chuck's first Runner-Up finish, good for $943.00 in earnings.  In 3rd Place,Thomas Heintzman made his way down from Oak Harbor, shooting well enough to Win with an excellent 1044, only to be topped twice.  He took home a nice $506.00 for his fine effort. Will Cotton (1031) & Rob Robinson (1000) were the only other bowlers to surpass the 1000 mark.
