Wrap Up

I TOLD YOU SO!  The Jackpot, for some mysterious reason, seems to get hit in bunches!  This time, Greg Roberts took it down for $2,466.00 (see video below).  Our Tour has also become very geographically diverse... with a Sequim bowler hitting theJackpot, a recently transplanted 'local' Winning his 1st Title and a Yakima bowler taking 2nd Place.  Despite a beautifully sunny Easter weekend, 174 bowlers competed in the 'Best 3 of 4'format, for some HUGE payouts.  The Champion's share came up just $21 short of breaking the Record for the largest 1-Day Tournament, which paid-out an impressive total of $14,238.00.  Very reachable Top scores of 836 & 831 were posted in the 1st Squad, but they held up all-day long.  Top to bottom the scores making the Cash List were right in the ideal range for this format and every squad contributed to the SIX scores topping 800.  All this action leads us to our first $1,000.00 Added-MoneyTournament of the year, next week at HiLine Bowl.

Ben Moore made his first Tour Title a BIG ONE, with his near Record $3,309.00 payday.  What an incredible turnaround for Ben from last month when, out of frustration, he decided to stopbowling on the Tour.  After a year on the Tour and a just a handful mid-level Cashes, Ben thought maybe the Tour wasn't for him.  But, he decided to try again at Narrows last week and again at Paradise Saturday.  His resolve was further tested this week, when he started his first game with a 7-10 split.  He turned it all around, finishing with three strong games for his 836 series.  What a perfect week for his breakthrough Victory!  When he was younger, he used to bowl regularly back in New York, but in the 1970's he stopped bowling when he moved to California.  Ben only returned to bowling three years ago, when he moved to Washington.  He's been getting bowling tips this year from Matt Surina and credits Matt for his improved bowling.  Matt also drilled Ben's 'Track 706A' at his Daffodil Pro Shop.  This makes TWO bowlers from the Senior Men's Travel League to win Titles in the last three weeks (Tom Melberg won at Kent).  The retired Systems Analyst now becomes a role model for "Never Giving Up"!!  CONGRATS Ben on Win #1!

Ron Rice also had his Best Ever finish on the Tour, coming within 5 pins of his 1st Tour Title.  Ron is a part of the Yakima 'Gang' that seldom misses a Tournament even when Snoqualmie Pass is covered with snow.  He was also nicely rewarded for his tenacity, earning a very nice $1,434.00 check for 2nd Place. Michelle Scheitzach finished with a Giant 277 (306) game to make it close with her 829.  This was the third time she's come close to winning her first Tour Title, she now has three Top 3 finishes (one 2nd & two 3rds).  This one was worth an impressive$797.00.  Jackpot Winner Greg Roberts held onto 4th andHarvey Morgan rounded out the Top5.
